I'm looking forward to this. First trip abroad with the bike ever. So
we're off to Spain - Northern end - just south of the Pyrenees. It'll be
Easter - so chances are it'll be cold up high. Any advice on the following
    would be very useful.

    1) Good routes
    2) Laws to watch out for
    3) How cold is it really at Easter ?
    4) Anything else to consider.

We've got the best part of a fortnight to get there, have fun and get back,
    and I'm counting the days.

  2. A fortnight? Couple of days should do it. I shall be cheating in a
couple of weeks when I return here on my bike ie; I'll sail to Santander
or Bilbao. Incidentally, if you're going to ride to Spain, why not ride
an extra 9 hours and come down south where it's warm? YKIMS. I'll put
    the kettle on.

Not a lot of use really. Maybe for something serious I suppose. Last
time I presented my E111 in France, they just told me where the cash
    machine was.

When I took the sprog to A&E [0]in Spain they were not interested in the
    E111.

I was whisked off to reception where they photocopied my insurance & our
passports. They also wanted the 50Euro excess [1].

[0] clumsy oaf fell over playing football, x-ray showed no break
    fortunatley
[1] refunded by CIS later as I said I offered the E111 [2]
[2] so worth taking just for this

I informed france of my E111 and later sent a photocopy.

Then after a while I got sent a second bill with 40% off the original
    value.

Every country seems to have their own quirks - for Spain seem to be:

It is a requirement to carry spare lightbulbs and fuses - and (rather
oddly?!) a spare set of glasses if you are required to wear them to be
allowed to drive..!? Also it's illegal to carry spare fuel - but you *will*
be fined if your car is "immobilized on the road for shortage of petrol".
Good news are the speeding-tickets are 'linear' at approx. 6 euros per
    'excess' km/h...

(Googling for 'spain law spare bulbs' will get you more details :)

/Claus (considering Spain - but uncertain about how to secure two warning
    triangles and a fire-extinguisher to the ZX-9R)

In Italy (three years ago) we had no problem. There was a small charge
    for the prescription IIRC.

I'm almost sure that's not what they're for, but it's been a while...
Eh? I thought they were pretty much the same as the UK. Or are you
referring to their use of flashing amber at non-busy periods?

well every body uses them that way, if you don't move into them
you get hooted at. They are called cambio de sentido's.
The ones I've encountered have flashing amber and flashing green
lights. Ive seen spanish drivers of trucks sail through red lights, I
I've seen them stop at amber lights.
