Yebbut 2 seconds at 120mph covers a lot more distance than 2 seconds at a
walking pace. If the time is a constant, the distance varies with speed,
and so the gap becomes bigger the faster you go.

sounding much like they were saying :
Are they the same distance?

Did you not have your thinking head on today, Wurzel?
You've shown yourself up, that's correct.

Didn't you do any basic maths at school? Didn't you learn that the faster
you travel the greater the distance covered?
The "twinkie" has shown himself.

And this is utter bollocks unless you factor in the speed of the
vehicles. Two seconds at walking pace? Two seconds at 120mph?
It works for any speed over about 25mph.

Two seconds *does* factor in the speed of the vehicles, because the
distance covered by a separation of two seconds varies according to
speed.

It takes about half a day to drive to Germany.

Ho hum. I've been forced to point out the twinkies again. And I promised
I wouldn't.
Even if you do leave a sufficient gap you can bet your life some
tithead with a suit on the back grab will slot himself into it

Maths not a strong point is it?

10. Nope. I am suitably chastened.

Ooops. TOG - check for Alzeimers or somesuch immediately. Then give me your
stable of bikes. Just to be on the safe side.

I take my previous statement back. You found your PC again, so that rules
out Alzeimers. I still want the fucking bikes though.
Sheer jealousy, you know.

13. Sometimes go to Germany, rarely go that slow...

Two seconds is quite a way at 160mph.

....or a few seconds just to say "**** it. Weeeee!", and exceed the speed
limit. Definitely easier than traveling to an autobahn.

You dropped off the facetious quotient scale there, didn't you

The time (and therefore the distance ) is a function of the speed, isn't
it.

Such a simple minded rule of thumb is totally useless

If you say so, then it must be.

But I probably won't run in to the back of the vehicle in front.
