speed camera question....

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Doesnotcompute, Apr 16, 2005.

  1. If a static roadside camera flashes only the once, chances are it's not
    a real camera right?

Does that work in Clogland too?

    :/

Hmm, not sure, but to get an accurate reading I suspect it has to flash
    twice...

I'm still waiting for 4 tickets though, once through red, 3 for speed (no,
really). Been well over two years now.

  4. If it helps, it was a gatso box, but no floor markings - so I assume
    some sort of laser device?

Hmm, sods law, they'd just send the ticket straight to my company :/

"oops". Best of luck, and don't try any funny stuff. They won't
    understand.

Well, I think that's the reason Spete never laughs at my jokes.

You'd be surprised, most of them over here are pretty good.
    I think that's because it's /spete/ we're talking about here.

Oh and if anyone can actually answer my question, that'd be great.
    Perhaps I should x-post to nl.motorfiets

    x-posted.

    Anyone any idea in nl.motorfiets?

    for the english language challenged:

Als een Gatso statische camera eenmaal flitst, bestaat er een kans dat het
geen 'echte' camera is. Is dat ook het geval in NL. Met andere woorden, moet
een camera in Nederland ook tweee maal flitsen om een acurate snelheid te
    meten?

Done, general consensus is: you're fucked. Serves you right though, going to
    Friesland :)

  12. Cheers - I wondered what all the hurdy gurdy only replies were saying.
Too many smileys was a concern for sure.
    Yes yes, thankyou.

Right then, supposing I am fucked. It's a hire car, so I think we can
safely assume the ticket will go to the hire car company. Spose I'd
better get down there sharpish and make sure that they contact me and
    not my company.

Oh, any ideas what I'm looking at for 60<>70 in a 50? Dry weather, late
at night, empty road. Yes, Yes, I know. I KNOW. It's just that I wasn't
on the road I /thought/ I was on, and these fuckers don't coat their
cameras with reflective shit like wot we does.

  13. Only because it's done through my company, and I'd rather they didn't
hear of it. I got (and get) enough stick from hedging the vectra ages
    ago etc.
Hired by my lot, not me :/
    indeed.

    Who cares?

    The company.

Not you. Or at least you shouldn't.

    Only because...

  15. Not to get caught?
Could be worse, and if that is the case, then it's a good swap on the
    Karma scale.

That's not quite how I'd put it.
    Thanks. and holy ****.

Just for others amusement, on the motorway (max limit 120kph/74mph):

    100mph 270 €
    103mph 300 €
    106mph > 117mph 365-520 €
    118 mph+ dagvaarding (Court Summons)

Spete - if we go France > Friesland, can we do it through Germany? I'm
afraid I'll happily **** Amsterdam off (sorry Hog) in favour of getting
to the north with a somewhat faster average speed than 74mph.

No, I don't think so. No markings needed on the roads either.
They will take off 3km/h for "correction".

Oh, you don't actually have to pay it, UK aren't signed up to the
relevant bits of the Shengen agreement. Your choice really.

  17. This seems to be the concensus.
    That's handy.
Dutch hire car agreement through my company - they'd pay it and bill me
if I didn't pay it myself.
