Speed cameras & actual speed

**** me, one of my workmates got done for speeding in Rotherham at
35mph, i mean 35mph, **** me car speedos are not even that accurate
    anyway.

I can understand the reasons for speed cameras, I don't agree with
them, but that is fucking tight in my view.

IIRC the filth used to give you 10% & 2mph over, that is 35 mph.

I have some spray from ebay, I'm sorely tempted to use it now. I don't
see why a casual drift over the limit like that should net the fucking
filth money, a copper in a car would have just warned you at the that
    speed.

    Fuckers.

Have you decided on a bike to use it on yet?

You really think that spray is going to work? On one of the cage shows
they tested all this kind of tat and they could still read it on most
(the "winner" was a crystal display that blacked out the plate"). The
best way to avoid getting caught is to not speed.

Quite, if he was doing 35 in a 30 limit, chances are his speedo was reading
around 40, so no excuse really.

My GPS reckons my car speedo is only 1mph out at pretty much all
    speeds.

But car speedos overread so he'd have probably been showing close to 40mph
on the dash which is fair game.

Yeah, suppose you are right, but 35mph is too tight.

I don't speed, hence my nearly clean licence. But i bet i drift over
the 30mph limit now & again.

Why, when the speed limit is 30?

I suggest you read that back to yourself a few times.

What are the points for on your licence, btw?

Being a comlete & utter fool & answering an emergency call out from my
best customer with my headset batteries flat. My fault, i admit that
    freely.

I don't go out to speed on purpose, but i reckon we all drift over
speed limits , especially when they are too low for the road they are
on. Don't tell me you never speed or drift over, 5mph is nothing, it's
a blip of any throttle. On a bike it's even less.

It is too easy to just drift over by 5mph, come on, you know exactly
what i mean. If you put all your cencentration into what speed you are
doing you can't be giving enough attention to everything alse around
    you to be safe.

My van has an unusually accurate speedo (overreads by 1mph). To give you an
idea of how innaccurate car speedos are, people who think they're doing 35
are actually doing more like 30, and the people who think they're doing 30
are generally doing more like 27/28. As others have said, he'd have had to
have had something around 40 on the clock.

It's over 16% above the limit. I'd say that's plenty.

  14. I know exactly what you mean, you are unable to control your bike at low
speeds, not in full control of the machine and all that. There is a lot
of it about. Perhaps you should go on a IAM course, although maybe it
    should be IBM?

    So, speeding then?
I'd never be that stupid! I never go out with the intention of speeding,
however it probably happens every time I go out, and typically by a lot
    more than 5mph.

Please, do get a grip & Steve, don't tell me you have never dripped
over the speed limit? It's easy to be clever on here, but you know it's
all BS. Take the post as it was meant, it wasnt me that got caught
    doing 35 mph either.

It is nothing other than a tax, simple.

    No, mobile phone use.
Yeah, but if you did this day on day you would expect to get caught,
the chap in question is a very sensible driver. He now has three points
for speeding where he would have probably just got bollocked by a
    traffic rozzer.

  18. It's not easy to miss those big yellow boxes by the side of the road
    though. ;-)

    That takes practice.

  19. We need taxes to keep our society running the way it does. If speed
cameras impose tax then I'm all for them as I can easily avoid those
taxes and therefore reduce my tax bill.

  20. Not relevant, it isn't me who claims he cannot control his bike
sufficiently to do a task as simple as maintain one set speed for a
    short while.
