    Eh?

Every time I go out on a bike I've got an intention of speeding. Come
to that every time I go out in a car I've got an intention of speeding.

    They're meant to over-read. I think under-reading is a complete no-no.

I go out with the intention of getting somewhere. The speeding is
    coincidental.

  5. I sort of agree but not with the term intention. I am more of your
"take full advantage if and when opportunity presents itself" type me.
My intention, if any exists, is to make progress.

Imagine if this approach was used for other crimes. "I know the age of
consent is 16, but the girl was almost 14. Surely we all stray under 16
    every now and again?"

I don't have the intention per say - it just happens.

-0/+10%, as I understand the C&UR to state. FWIW, I have checked my last 3
cars (two Discoveries and an older Range Rover) against GPS and found them
to be reading around 2% fast.

TBH I rarely pay any attention to speed limits barring urban ones. They're
the only ones that IMO are really justified and they're also the ones that
are most likely to be enforced.

He's right, though. The only guaranteed way not to be caught speeding is
keep your speed well within the limit at all times.

Same way as the best way to avoid pregnancy is never to have sex, and the
best way to avoid injuries in the home is to stay in bed. In other words,
he's right, but life aint always like that.

FWIW, I tend to be pretty respectful of 30 limits, and then I get more
flexible as the limit goes up. The more I can see the reason for it, the
more I feel inclined to conform.

Tell that to the mother of the child who just ran out in front of you.
    At 30 she has a 50-50 chance of survival, at 35 it's 20%.

Correct, I admit that & am nothing other than honest. It was an
unmarked Volvo, i have never missed an unmarked car untilo this one. As
you say, it was my lack of concentration.

And you call me - **** right off you double standards twat!
No, I found it a tad harsh, I'm sure you would too. You admit to
speeding all the time, it's not big or clever.

I dont find it hard to keep to 30 in the Land Rover, in fact I have
never been done for speeding in a 30 limit.

You are correct about the phone, it was my fault & I took the penalty
    without moaning.

  17. Incompetent drivers/riders who cannot control their machine. You know,
the ones who drift over 30mph and don't notice until the nip arrives and
    then blame the machine.

  19. I also wondered that, and if this had been x-posted to uk.rec.driving,
thereby inviting comments from holier-than-thou arseholes.
