I hope he measured the mean windspeed and direction for the duration of the
    roundtrip, too ...

I always do fill up to fill up, which is actually the way prescribed by
Honda in a bulletin we have.

    They seem to, IME.

However, shouldn't we all be using LED based lighting by now? Aren't
they much more energy efficient, long lasting, super wonderful (and in
    a range of colours)?

I'd like to know what causes each type.

Could it be that bulbs on timers (the push button, goes off half way up
the stairs type rather than clock based timers) switch the bulbs on and
off too often shortening the bulb life?

I can provide similar evidence that this is the case for older Italian
bikes but not for East German machines.

I thought the fuel consumption of old Italian bikes dropped to virtually
nothing in the rain or after 30 yards, whichever comes sooner.

I didn't say it was, just that it sounded unhygenic. Visions of hands
not being washed before the newspaper is handled and all that.

  14. You think you've got it bad?

I want to ask a physics question but I don't even have the language to
start to phrase it, let alone understand the answers.

    <small voice>...

Ford Probe 2.5 V6. Always fancied one when I was younger, and now they're
cheap enough that I picked up a full spec one for £1,600.
Well all I can say is that it really, *really* doesn't like to go slow. Fuel
economy on the thing is fucking appalling around town (50 litre tank down to
reserve light in 140 miles). Gets better on dual carriageway type speeds and
seems to peak at the mid 80's. Maybe the engine is just tuned to run more
efficiently at that RPM? Dunno, IANA car tuning mechanic.

Not a clue mate. Since I got it pretty cheap, it's had:

Engine flush and long overdue full service.
New anti-roll bar drop links x4.
New brake discs and pads x4.
Tank flush and several treatments of Redex.

Mpg observations were noticed after the service was carried out.

The only thing I'm contemplating now is an aftermarket Cold Air Induction
setup, which is alleged to improve engine efficiency by >10%. Dunno about
performance, but given how thirsty it is, I'd rather it was a bit more
    economical!
