Maybe if there was a merger between the Liberal (conservatives), the
agrarian socialists (Nazionals), One Nation and Family First Up Against The
Wall, they could win a couple of seats. But while there is someone like
Santo Santoro writing Boxer's scripts I wouldn't rate their chances too
    highly

I saw one stopped beside us today!!
My wife asked what it was and I explained the whole shift-light/tacho idea
and ended with "but I bet that's an auto" and sure enough!!
I laughed all the way to Bunnings!

My Triumph Sprint had a 320kph speedo and it was too "busy" to even READ
    above 220-ish.
The equivalent Tiger had the same-looking guage but it topped at 240 with
    the numbers more spread out.

    Man date.
You know: like a calendar-cat? (When it's walking away you can always see
    the date!)

    "Donkey claims man date!"

Not the fact, the implied assertion that the election result is not 'fair'
(ie that more that 50% of the Australian poulation did not want a Coalition
government). You may not have been making that assertion, but I hear that
argument so often from people who are, that I tend to assume that slant.
Otherwise the 'fact' seems to have little relevance to the conversation.
Sure, over 50% of the population did not vote for the Coalition with their
first preference, but so what? In Australia we use a preferential voting
system, and after distribution of preferences, over 52% of Australian voters
voted for the Coalition. Therefore, 'we aussies voted him in' stands as an
    accurate statement.
I have no idea what you mean by that...

I accept your apology. You have confused idle banter for feverish partisan
debate. aus.politics is over there ====--->

Really? Well, it's a context only you are aware of, since you seem to have
snipped to your own ends. Never mind, the real context will be apparent to
anyone foolish enough to read the entire thread.

Remember this is not IRC. The comments you make stay around for a VERY long
    time in the public domain.
It wasn't an apology. It was a clarification. Interesting pointer,
considering it wasn't me who started either the thread of the political
vein. And also not I who made any comment remotely partisan.
Ah! Otherwise known as the 'I was only joking' defence to an argument after
taking un effectively indefensible position (whether by intent, direct or
    implication).

I must have missed the wry grin on your face while you were composing the
    original post...
