  1. As long as they don't have a big turnover.

    Like Townsend-Thornsen.

There's a nice stained glass window of the boat in question in Dover parish
church... a brighter more cheerful epitaph to those who died in the disaster
than the more usual fashioned from stone efforts.

I'm sure I've told this story before, but my ex- B-I-L[1] hurridly
swopped his shift with a good friend and colleague, as my sister went
into labour just before the ship sailed out of Dover that day. His mate
died when the ship went down later on in the day.

My nephew is named after the guy who swopped shifts with Alan.

[1] Chief electrician on the Herald of Free Enterprise at the time.

Speedferries should've paid their bills. What is not reported in that story
is the amount of money that SF owe and their track record of paying past
bills. If you read the press then these bills have been unpaid for many
months and SF is having severe cash flow problems.

The LD expansion has been in the public domain for months. I posted about
it last month quoting a press release dated July. As I said in the bit you
snipped, you'd think SF would've done a better job at keeping a vital
element of their business sweet in light of this news. If SF couldn't raise
the cash in July, well before the credit crunch then they don't stand a
    chance now.

If Speedferries can't cope in a competitive environment then tough shit,
    they will have to fold.
