Right, been to the local Honda dealer, the new MPH speedo i fit to the blade is reading well low, about 30% ish. I reckon it must need the sensor too, from a UK bike. Not a problem thinks I, until the bloke tells me they are £150 fucking quid. FFS, anyone know any good bike breakers? How the **** can they charge that for a fucking sensor? I thought Land Rover had rip off prices. Another thought, theres one on ebay, but for a slightly newer bike, any chance of it fitting right? -- 'Chill Winston.......' I recently used http://www.partfinderuk.co.uk/ - they make a small charge, but you do get a lot of responses. Prices do vary though. See the recent thread "Breakers".
Ta for that, I know I'm not the fastest rider, but **** me silly, I'm not doing 50 when I know I'm doing at least 70 -- 'Chill Winston.......' Nige Subaru WRX (54) Land Rover Discovery II (2001) BMW GS1200 (2007) Honda CBR900RR Fireblade (1997)
Please read what I posted a while back. I cannot see any way the sensor would be different since all it'll be sensing is gearbox output shaft revolutions. i.e. it'll give a pulse once for every time the shaft goes around. How this could possibly differ depending on whether it's a contintental or uk bike is beyond me. Replace it if you want but I suspect that the issue is somewhere else; fucked clocks?
Well, to be honest, I'm with you on this, but it is a known good speedo. I cant see it being anything other than the sensor. I'm an electrical engineer & fully understand what you say, but it seems to be the opposite. I would think the speedo would do the 'calibration' of the signals. I can check it with a mate riding at the side of me or satnav. Next, to fit the new UK spec headlights...... -- 'Chill Winston.......' I wonder if the sensor feeds some kind of ecu? hhmm, i'll check. -- 'Chill Winston.......' Nige Subaru WRX (54) Land Rover Discovery II (2001) BMW GS1200 (2007) Honda CBR900RR Fireblade (1997)
Looks like it goes through the main control module & then out to the speedo. Required, one main control module.....or license. -- 'Chill Winston.......' Nige Subaru WRX (54) Land Rover Discovery II (2001) BMW GS1200 (2007) Honda CBR900RR Fireblade (1997)
If the point is to get an accurate MPH speedometer, you could fit a cycle (pushbike) computer. Not as primitive as you might think, some of them indicate up to 185 mph, and besides odometer function also indicate max and average speed on a run as well.
I can recommend the Sigma BC series, IIRC the wife's EX250 has a BC600 which works up to 300 km/hr or 186 mph. Unfortunately there's no illumination built in, so you have to fit an LED lamp or similar if you need to be able to read it at night.
