Speedo change on blade

I don't like the KPH speedo on the blade, the previous owner has put an
overlay on it & it's hard to use. I got a full dash fro £20 from ebay. I
want to swap the speedo for the MPH i have, it works from some kind of
sensor on the chain sprocket, my question is this. Will the speedo
convert OK to MPH, or will i need a sensor too?

Look at the MPH calibrations on the KPH one, if they appear to match
the positions of the 'new' MPH one I would assume it should work fine.
All the widget on the chain wheel does is send so many pulses to the
speedo per revolution, so not much room for any differences there.

    If all else fails...

There is a little electronic gadget which can adjust the input pulses
to ensure the calibration is accurate.

What you could do is change the size of the wheel that the speedo sensor
is on. So if you have say a 17" wheel that is reading in KPH, if you
change the wheel to a 27.2" one, your speedo will now read in MPH.

Comprehended. What I meant was, change the wheel instead of the speedo.
Just remove the overlay. Or did I miss summat else?

okaaay, I didn't specifically say the front wheel..... If the sensor is
on the either of the chain sprockets, changing the rear wheel would have
the desired effect. Might want to lower the overall gearing a tad too.

It's reading well low i think. I was doing at least 80 & it reading
about 55-60mph. I might just buy the UK sensor. It's a hell of sight
better than kph & a shitty overlay. But it does need to be right.....

350LC speedos were reknowned for being extremely accurate.

We (OK, my son) had an RD375LC with a speedo that was *dead accurate*
    most of the time....

    ....ie *zero mph*!!

If the sensor is to sense gearbox revolutions, I can't see how there's
going to be any difference between the MPH and KPH ones, the only
difference will surely be in the speedo.
