  6. Depends what you mean. I have nothing against the presence of vaginas.

Yes but it rather defeats the object a bit dontcha think ole boy. It is
bad enough now that half of us turn up to the non riding meets in cages.

Make it a week and make it overland.

I am a **** so I won't be going either way. Although if I had the bike
and the money I would be tempted.

Best not on bikes. I could see impromptu Montjuich Park shenanigans
    ending in tears.

Am I not allowed to be ironic? I'm up for it. Ten years since I rode to
Milan and back for a week - time for a new challenge.

Anyway, I might have meant a biker boy motorcycle mounted raid on the
    Fundación Joan Miró.

while we're here, how do the Barcas actually pronounce "Montjuic"? Is
    it mont-duke or mont-juss?

And the bike, is it pronounced the same way?

Dunno, but the Montjuich spelling is Spanish rather than catalan (as I
am sure you knew - but no points for using the special ï or perhaps it
did not not survive the usenet trip).

    Montjuïc = mont-zhwik in Catalan ? Cause j is jota ?
    Montjuich = mont-juik in Spanish ?

That's jota the consonant not Jota the bike.

Come on Domenec put us out of our misery.

Otherwise get your head round the symbols here:

  17. Don't know about the catalán, but the 'ch' used to be one character in
castellano and is always like the english 'ch' as in "church".

The "ui" without an accent is a dipthong "wee".

The jota is always pronounced like one is trying to get some horrible
    phlegm out of one's throat.

  18. Apart from maybe the balearics, if you told someone from anywhere other
than Cataluña that they spoke catalán, you'd get your head kicked in.
Valencianos are very proud of their language, even though it is exactly
    the same as catalán.

Oh, and castellano (spanish) has now been officially banned in Cataluña,
although I suspect that Domènec might argue with me on this one. With
some justification actually, because it's only really been banned in
    schools and courts etc.

The poor little catalán sprogs will have to get through life only
knowing a language that hardly anybody uses. Bit like the welsh really.

Hey! I thought it was dead, but there are recent news :)
Hum, the good old phonetic symbols, but they're images and can't be
    pasted.
Almost, I'd say mon-zhwik where that zh is like dg in 'budget'. The ï
is a special case in which hyphening rules prevent from using a í but
it must be denoted that it is the stressed vowel.
mon-yuik, three consonants together is too much for a Spaniard, and
they don't have that 'budget' j.

It's a special case, ancient Cat used -ch and -ph writing for the -k
and -p sound at the end of a word. Its use is now deprecated, but
Spaniards have kept writing it in that way which is not consistent with
    their own ortography.
