    Yes.

At this point I'd like to make it clear that a 600 Hornet is _not_ a
    commuter bike.

You could commute on it, but you'd be paying a fortune for fuel and tyres.

The Hornet is a hooligan bike.

I'd expect a fuel injected CBR600 to be a more practical commuter machine.

The hornet 600 uses a detuned version of an earlier motor that was
fitted to the CBR600 a few years back. It is a nice bike, but it quite
a bit slower than the current 600's.

In order to get a naked that offers handling and performance similar to
faired sports bikes you really have to look at something like an
apprillia Tuono and the Benelli naked.

There isn't really anything in the 600 class that is directly comparable.

But that shouldn't stop you buying a hornet 600... personally I think if
you want a bit more grunt have a look a the hornet 900.

The new FZ1N looks pretty hot on paper and in the showroom. Anyone taken one
for a burl and can comment on the ride?

Nearly killed myself on the superceded FZ1 taking it for a test ride.
All the grunt of an R1 with significantly poorer handling.

(it ain't an R1 and I ain't Curtain/Haga, pick whichever you prefer as
    the primary issue :)

The problem is they ain't got all the grunt of an R1. They're a detuned
version with different internal components. When I looked at them as a
buyer I considered that since they were only $1000 cheaper than the R1,
either the R1 was a bargain, or the FZ1 price was quite inflated. But
it was the grasshopper effect of the mirror stems which really convinced
me not to buy one :)

Well I don't think it NORMALLY leaks water it's just that the radiator was
    full of hot engine-oil!
You're being generous but yeah; you did seem to be having a bit more fun on
it after that first 100km or-so!

Glad to see you made it home OK J5.
