I'd never have had Duff, Clement, Hill, Hunt or Hesketh down as proles.

I think it was Ernest Hemmingway who said :
"There are only three sports : Motor Racing, Mountaineering and Bull
Fighting. The rest are simply pastimes."

I'm not sure what its got to do with the previous post either.
    But its a good quote.

Your simile is flawed. I hate musical theatre. One of my worst experiences
was visiting a friend who insisted we watch the Rocky Horror Show before
dinner. Things you have to do for a shag....

    I'd agree with this.

Horse racing is also a *fantastic* spectacle if seen live.

I was drooling on Friday when I spotted an absolute cracker of a horse
in the paddock. Couldn't believe the bookies were offering 8-1 - paid
    for the whole weekend's racing.

Indeed. There's nothing like that "splitfire" game when both players
need an eaily scorable out, like 32 f'rinstance and it takes 'em 9 darts
    to do it.

Tony Green's a legend[1], too, although with the advent of John Part,
the one-time Canadian champ, his commentary has been somewhat slilted.

A bit like the players then...
He was doing rather well against Stephen Hendry yesterday; six frames to
    one last time I looked.

Davis won it but I forget the result. 9-6 to Davis I think.

I didn't see the end of the match but I imagine so.

Davis lost in the final. Would've been nice to see him lift the title
    again.
