While lying here nursing a fever, I've strayed onto the Bay and was
looking at an ST1050 in the frozen wastelands.

Any particular issues that need to be taken into account when viewing these?

Well, the clutch interlock on mine is bust, and they appear to be made
    of un-obtainium.

Other than that, thoroughly recommended by me.

CT's ST1050 seems to have had the same effect on him as a Blackbird did
    on Cane.

    On that basis, I'd avoid.

I guess we won't get his opinion until Monday, when he's back in the office.

I still fancy trying one and finding out for myself. Given that the
pound seems to be dying on its arse again, I reckon I can try one at
    little or no financial risk.

As a follow up, what does the font think of a 2007 version, less than
5,000 miles, with luggage and supposedly immaculate for £4500?

Sounds OK to me, but I'm no expert.

Getting mine back tonight. £143 to sort the clutch switch, cos it comes
    with all the light gear.

Quoted for the 36k service by my independents at £350, which is rather
    less than I was fearing.
