Well, PS Imports. I predeliver the bikes and take care of the Demo fleets
    for Triumph, Hyosung and Vespa.

Don't worry about apologies. It's quite interesting to hear about my work
after it's gone out the door. I'm happy to hear you're enjoying it.

    Cheers

    Hmmmm,

Bit of a contrast between Triumph and Vespa! (Or at least i hope there
    is!)

I dunno if you worked on my bike or not, the salesguy barely let
me even see the warranty paperwork!
Can't say i was impressed with him, but then again he prob'ly wasn't
too impressed with me either (I put my deposit down on a sprint at
    the start of '05!)

  5. Hi Andrew,

Good to see you're happy with the Sprint! Did you snag an ABS one?
We've got an '05 model, and it's beaut.

The high beam adjustment on them from factory seems to be a bit of a
world-wide problem, if the forums on www.triumphrat.net are anything to
go by. Possibly dodgy instructions given to the per-delivery guys?
Anyway, look em up (Sport-Touring section, Sprint forum) - there's a
lot of good info there on adjusting them correctly yourself. I've not
bothered, but then again, we don't find ourselves riding lonely
highways at night much. A few triumphrat forum regulars have fitted
    these with good reports:
    http://www.motolight.com/

Probably about your only other options though are those already
suggested - hook up a beefier bulb via a relay. You'll still be stuck
with the projector throw, but the extra power should make up for that,
especially if it's been aimed right. Just make sure you don't go
outrageously overpowered, and start melting things.

Other than that, have a poke around on the forums over there - ask a
question or two, and you'll probably come up with a lot more informed
answers than I am qualified to give!

    Thanks!
    Matto :)

Peter Stevens Imports import those three brands and a few others.
Why did you wait for so long for the ST? I thought the 675 waiting lists
were long when it came out! :p

    Well.....

It was a case of digging up (not literally!)the rest of the money!
Back in March '05 i thought i'd have it soon, but as usual, events
    conspired against me.
But at least i got it now!!! And well worth the wait too!

    Hi Matt,

Nah, i didn't get the ABS model, ummed and ahhed about it for
a while, but in the end i figured i've been riding
successfully without ABS this long, i should be able to
    survive without it.
And the thousand bucks difference went on things like disc lock,
ventura rack, tank protector, etc... (with some change left over)

I was sort of aware of the Triumphrat forums, but now that
you tell me there's definitely some threads in there
regarding high beam adjustment, i'll search 'em a bit more
    thoroughly.

I've already done a highbeam bulb swap, to be honest i haven't
found a high wattage H7 bulb yet! Maybe i'm just not looking in
    the right places.
I pulled out the original (which was an osram) and replaced it
with a philips "vision plus", interesting thing is it's the same
wattage (55w) as the original. (Had to buy a pack of 2 damn it)
But philips claim 50% more light, dunno if it's a placebo effect
or it's genuinely brighter, but it looks better to me.
And a few web sites seem to back up those claims, so...

And it's not one of those "it's blue so it must be brighter bulbs"
(Blue bulbs are *mostly* a marketing wank, there *may* be some
    exceptions)

How are you doing with fuel economy on yours?
I reckon i'm already getting getting close to 300k's per tank
with a mix of city and country riding, only on the third tank of
fuel yet though, so it's kind of a bit early to tell!!

    Thanks muchly!

Pretty good! Admittedly I didn't have a good word to say about them until I
started working here. Every month the factory improves on things and are
    very receptive to feedback.

  12. Hi Andrew,

Glad to see you're enjoying the new ride! We took ours out to Warwick
and back for a friend's wedding on the weekend (and to test out the new
soft bags) - absolutly beautiful weather and a great ride.

I can't remember exactly, but I think it was around 300kms worth of
pretty much all highway there and back. We had filled up the day
before, and had already taken about 40kms out of the tank, but it got
us there and back with still plenty of range left. The trip computer
was reporting a burn rate of around 6L/100kms, which is about what we
usually see when cruising. Not bad for a litre bike two-up with
luggage. It's certainly a nice change from the Firestorm that we had
previously - 180kms full to empty was pretty standard for it!

Now that I've mentioned the triumphrat forums, I've had a bit of a poke
around to see if I can track down the articles I was thinking of. Of
    course, I can't. I've found the two below ( [1] and [2] ), but they
seem to relate to '01 models, and the 05/06 is no doubt completely
different. I'll keep going, as I would swear that there was a complete
how-to posted, including putting the bike on it's centre stand at a
certain distance from the wall, and measuring so far up the wall, and
so forth. I'll keep hunting. Goodness knows, it's better than actually
    doing work.

On the topic of forums, you might try the t595.net forums too. I've
never used them, but know that they exist, and a lot of people speak
pretty highly of them. That said, I've never used em, so can't say from
    personal experience either way!

I'd certainly be interested to know what you think of the new phillips
bulb after a couple of weeks of getting used to it. Always interested
in cheap, effective mods! Like you say though, I've had blue bulbs in a
previous car, and they did bugger-all, except blow a lot more
frequently than standard ones. From memory, they were Navara branded
ones, but knowing me, they were probably the cheapest ones at the time.

Anyhow, good to hear you're enjoying the bike - ours has run absolutly
brilliantly since day one, so I don't imagine that you'll be in for any
trouble at all. The old days of being provided a free oil drip tray
with the purchase of every brit bike seem to be (thankfully) behind us!

    Thanks!
    Matto :)
