    Yes, seriously.

ObComedy, watching Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle prompted me to order a
DVD of his '90s Comedian' stand-up show. As a response to being charged
with blasphemy goes, it's quite blunt. Makes Frankie Boyle's usual
schtick look rather tame in comparison.

Yeah. The 'political correctness' one wasn't great but last night's
assault on yank stand-up was rather good. There are no sacred cows where
Lee's concerned, even Hicks comes in for it. His delivery reminds me a
    lot of Lenny Bruce.

Oh, no, I mean the 90s Comedian show. No idea if you can still get Fist
of Fun, though I did have a DVD of the whole lot ages ago. Think I may
    have given darsy a copy.

    Trainspotter-spotting was legend.

  8. The first time, for the incongruity and unexpectedness of it.
A season of Tony Holland type gigs awaits the lucky pair.

I always think he's great on Mock The Week as it's his comedy is a bit
err, different, from the other guests.

Having watched his live DVD recently, the constant short, controversial
one liners get lame in very short measure.

    So in short, I agree.

which is pretty fucking hilarious. I really enjoyed the one about
people living in big houses with big mortgages, watching his show "in
the future" through the window at Dixon's because their shit's been
    repossessed.

I found it mildly amusing, at best. Though maybe it was spoiled for me
as I'd already seen (but not heard) a bit of it, when it was shown on
Loose Women (which was on, silently in the pub[1] I was in yesterday
    lunchtime).

[1] the Rising Sun on Carter Lane, which has long been a watering hole
for people who work in our IT department, but which seems to be slowly
but surely turning into a gay bar[2]
[2] having "Gaydar FM" playing on the TVs should have tipped us off a
    few months back[3]
[3] but the shaven headed, reasonably muscled barman who was yesterday
wearing a pink t-shirt with a picture of Bungle on it seems to confirm
    things.

Only about 17 or 18 for me.
Moving out to the Boondocks has curtailed my gig-going somewhat,
although I do have a few lined up for later this year.
I saw The Klaxons there last year (crap) and Kasabian the year before
    that (superb!).

It was a lovely evening, weatherwise, on both occasions. I still got
    wet, mainly from spilled beer[1].

[1] Why make a four pint beer carrier out of papier-maché FFS?

  20. You do yourself a disservice. You have more than me.

    Oh - hang on...
