steampunk bikes

  1. Steampunk is a design aesthetic of "what if modern tech looked like
    something from the Victorian era"

has a couple of bikes from this aesthetic.

    My thoughts included
    - OK, so they've re-invented the flat tanker
    - Didn't Gottfried Daimler already do this?
    - Uh huh? And where's the steam going to go then?

IT does look like these were all built by people who have never seen a
    bike built before 1960.

I dunno how many of these things anyone's going to try and ride...

Was Gottfried the brother of Gottlieb?

    Exactly correct.

History has, very unkindly, ignored the contribution of Gottfried,
    Gottlieb's younger brother.

OK, so being the second person to build a motorbike, in it's self isn't
that great, but, being the person to start off motorcycle racing, surely
is worth at least a footnote in history?

Wasn't there a third brother who was a dutchy, Godverdomme?
