Ok ... would it depend if I 'believed' a God of some sort was doing
the dirty, it was going to happen anyway, or there was some indirect
subconscious thing going on where someone who hadn't been as nice as
they could was distracted by regretful thoughts > lamppost etc?

Or none of the above? ;-)

    Isn't that a catch 22?
Agreed, but I still think it works on the whole.
And that's fine, and I accept, join in, rise above much of it. It's
when it's the same faces who seem to offer little other than finding
fault that I get confused by. Why do they even bother to read my
    posts?
Maybe so, in which case, would you care to flick through the other
respondents and explain the same to them?
And much of usenet of course, just not as bad as here, compared with
any of the other ng's I frequent.
Why did you think I would expect to? I have no issues about talking
about *anything* (as you have already seen and commented).
I did flick though it yes?
Of course, we all fall short *sometimes*. So (it seems to me anyway)
seem to go out of their way to be 'difficult' (and I'm not necessarily
    talking about the 'usual suspects')

So it seems. My point is, by all means question why I don't have a sig
sep, can't spell or punctuate, use people names etc, but keep it as a
question rather than get all pissy about it?
I don't know. Would the 'if you can't say something nice ...' fit in
    there?
Newbie? When do you think I started using usenet or this NG for that
matter then? Ok, I've not been here as long as you but I've not just
    started either?
    Ok ..
I understand, and they can rag each other to kingdom come, but should
you be surprised if someone *I* don't know very well runs hot and cold
for no (apparent to me anyway) reason?
    I'm sure she would. ;-(

Ok, there's a thought. I'm trying to get this GPz550 sorted out and
the quicker I can do that the quicker you can get me out of here and
not have the bother of seeing all my nasty little habits and
    frustrating foibles.

Right, I'm off to run a car down the scrappy with a mate then
hopefully I'll get a call to say my fork spares have come in and I can
get the front back on and get it MOT'd

Then watch out for it (and me) round a lamppost near you! ;-)

I don't want to stop and won't when it comes to asking direct
questions re the bike(s) but I'm just fedup with the pettyness of
    some.
    I'm surprised!
Ok, because I believe your question is genuine I'll give you, as I
give all others (till they prove their intentions are otherwise) a
honest reply. It comes from years ago when there were several 'Tim's'
on a system and I didn't want to change my name or adopt some alias.
    Sorry, I didn't realise I had?
    I know.
    I know.
I know and what's more I really don't understand why (on what I
believe) on your first uttering's to me you felt the need to tell me
    so?
Well, I guess, assuming your assumption is true and I don't believe it
    is (certainly not intentionally anyway)?

Ok, there's one for you then. I ask a question and 5 people reply over
a period with differing suggestions and further questions. How do I
explore / expand each without answering them individually? I thought
it was a discussion group but it seems it's just a clubhouse for the
    clique.

And how is what I do any more notable than the other people who post
complete bollocks that means little to any outsider? Still going to
and being read on thousands of machines presumably?

The shame of it is (and obviously this is only my opinion) I feel I do
have some stuff to offer here and would under better circumstances
(and I'm not including *everyone* here and / or those I know, have met
or I talk to in via PM or with good spirit on other ng's and forums)
offer any engineering help I could, but right now, I really couldn't
    be arsed.

e.g. I have a mate who has a flat in Brighton and I happen to know it
is empty right now. It could have been handy for someone? What did we
say, "you reap what you sow ..."

Ok, then sorry for saying it like that.
Ok, let's put back in the bit you snipped out and please read my reply
    again.

"Please please please stop replying to every post in threads that you
start. You don't need to. You don't own your threads. Threads that you
start are not all about you."

In case my reply really wasn't clear, it was purely in reply to your
suggestions re my ownership of threads etc, nothing else.
Sorry, that *is* part of me I'm afraid. At least another reader can
see the whole discussion and not potentially miss any salient bits
that have been sniped out eh? ;-)
Ok, well that's your perception of what this ng is for and mine
obviously different. Is there any reason the two can't co-exist?
I don't think I said you were and please keep in mind my frustration
re feeling like you were just another person to jump on the 'let's
have a go at Tim and his weird habits' bandwagon. ;-)

Ok, but you still haven't told me exactly what you think I
    misunderstood?

If it helps you out of the hole I think you have put yourself in I
didn't feel Krusty was having a go at me, he only described something
I did subconsciously as an 'annoying habit'?

My reply to him was (in agreement with his statement) that as we all
have 'annoying habits' and some of us can simply ignore them, maybe be
could do the same re mine?

The whole thing came up because he had to bring up here something he
found annoying about my writing style (FFS). I have never highlighted
anything he or anyone else does that may annoy me (replied to
questions about maybe, instigate anything, don't think so), I've just
'dealt with it like an grownup'.

And if the best you can come back with is "welcome to UKRM" I'll
welcome a special place in your killfile. ;-)

I really want there to be a scary devil monastery out there.

Though they'd have to have holes cut in the cassocks for their tails
and I'm not sure what sort of manuscripts they'd illuminate.

I really do believe I understand what this place is about, however,
that doesn't mean I necessarily want play the full game as such. Don't
worry though <like you would> I am like that in many scenarios (don't
'do' birthdays, weddings, parties, funerals etc) and as I have
confessed often, happy to wear the boring old git badge.

Understood, and I do my best to keep up on the bits I'm interested in,
and however, I'm also quite happy to be the bloke left in the car
park fettling his (or someone else's upon request) bike as long as I'm
called to get a round in or have a drink brought out to me now and
again. (And normally the rest of the group are happy with me doing so
as it means *someone* is keeping an eye on all the bikes). ;-)
Luckily I'm told I'm the only person in the world who doesn't have 'PC
problems' (as I'm sure those here who also man the Mac group will
confirm) but I get yer drift. That said, for me, this still remains
the most complicated of places. ;-)
