OEM CBX brakes were the original anti-lock system - they couldn't
induce a lock-up in greased ice.

Single piston, non-opposed calipers on solid, shiny discs.

Well as Loz and Pip say they are probably good enough. I'm comparing them,
perhaps unfairly, to the Brembo's on my 100RS and ST4. And my gold
standard, which was those AP brakes on the Gixxer. At least they are better
than the dreaded 6 piston Tokicos.

I'm pretty convinced BTW that poor brakes, generally blamed on calipers, are
often down to the M/Cylinder. If it isn't integrated with the CBX throttle
unit then a used Brembo or radial M/C from a Ducati or Aprilia is usually
available on eBay. EBC HH pads grip those solid SS discs pretty well. £79
Item number: 290427125834. Beware the Chinese fakes.

Brembo 4 piston Goldline calipers go surprisingly cheap on eBay. I have a
pair in a box somewhere, welcome to borrow them, take a run up to WUNderland
if he has time and assess how easily 2 Dural adaptor plates could be
fabricated. They wouldn't look out of place on the CBX. Though a pair of
the older black 2 piston P8 Brembo's would be more "Period", but I don't
have a spare pare. Make a M/C part of the project.

In reply to both you, and the new "voice of reason" :), I have a
    GTR1400 master cyclinder awaiting fitment.

They have braided hoses already, which surprisingly did offer more
feel compared to the 30 year-old OEM hoses.

I think the pads are EBC, but they may be "Gold" which is not
    necessarily a good thing.

I'm assuming it was someone else (from my KF)
The reason I suggest the HH pads, which I use on the R100, is those older
style heavyweight SS disks need something quite aggressive to get initial
bite, and they have enough metal to stand the wear. I'm sure SBK/Bendix etc
would be better for modern light Jap disks.

I've got "the dreaded 6 piston Tokicos" on my K3 Bandit 1200. When
kept clean, they are extremely effective - I can stop under most
non-emergency circumstances quite happily using one finger. Of course,
"when kept clean" is the critical part of that statement...

Sounds like a lot of buggering about ...

I'm of the Champ way of thinking and go for originality. If you want
to go quick, take the CB13 out .. :)
