  3. Just heard that it was returned the following day with a full tank of fuel,
a box of choccies and a postal order sellotaped to the seat, asking the
owner to keep it locked up.

Seems the TWOC'er lost are street cred with his mates :)

Ok, thanks all for the offers of selling the bike back..but....
    Its been recovered..
Did the scumbags find that its not the fastest bike in town...
Did they find the purple colour too camp?
Did they find that I'd not secured the tank down whilst on a rather
    sharp bend?

    Na...
They were caught trying to nick another bike just up the road in Cheshunt.

Problem is, they've smashed the lock and petrol cap, and its been
    dropped (not crashed tho)
Also, they managed to get away from the police, so I've got to find the
cash myself (only insured 3rd party).

If you'd insured it TPF&T then you would have been able to claim back
things like broken locks, etc. which were damaged while it was getting
stolen even if the machine was recovered.

And in other news from The Department Of The Bleedin' Obvious...

Of course, even if those items had been covered under a policy, they'd
probably have not been worth claiming because of the loss of NCB.

In any case, they'd probably be less than the policy excess (if second
hand parts used for the repair) so even if you did claim you'd end up
    getting **** all.

    BGN says...
Cost of replacing the locks yourself would be much cheaper than the
excess you'd have to pay towards a claim, and you'd also lose NCB.

Pattern igniton switches and petrol caps are available for most Suzuki
models at a fraction of the cost of OE parts. I bought a used genuine
full set of three locks for my Bandit on ebay, for 25 quid.
