    Hi folks,

I'm back, didn't get a chance to comment on the Le Mans race as I've been
too busy but I did read this weeks Motorcycle News and found an article
which to me seems Casey has had some hard criticism towards him.

It states that Rossi (and apparently Wayne Gardner) has stated Stoner "can't
handle worn tyres at the end of a race and struggles to overtake"!!
Stoner pointed out the flu compromised his Qatar performance and he set his
fastest lap in China on the last lap and was pacing at the same speed as
Melandri on the last laps of the Le Mans race. Also Michelin boss Nicolas
Goubert claims Stoner needs to use his brain more after crashing out in
China during practice and qual sessions. Goubert also stated "in Shangai he
should have been fighting with Danni and Nicki", is that like Melandri,
    Elias and Tamada were doing?

These points may be valid but er Casey's had a grand total of 5 races in MGP
and missed out most of pre season testing, has finished in the top 6 in all
his races and is 18 points of the championship lead and when you consider
he's on possibly the most "standard" Honda out there and had injury and
sickness to contend with he's not doing too bad.

If he does start to kick ass on his "standard" bike and beat the factory
boys I wonder what they will say then? "he's not winning by enough"

Amen. One can only hope Gardner is talking out of genuine concern for
someone to not repeat his own mistakes, riding too aggressively etc.
Stoner just comes across as having more fun riding a bike, which will always
appeal more the the motorcycling afficionado. The Pedrosa alikes, I don't
know, they make it sound too much like a *job*, I mean, come on, you get to
ride the fastest bikes in your 20s and you look as excited as if your were
waiting for a bus??!!! Kinda surreal.

    T3 ha escrito:
All that is just being a introvert person, and it's not a sin...
He obviously enjoys riding a bike, if he didn't enjoy it he wouldn't do
it. Everyone who knows him says he is very passionate about his job
(because yeah it IS a job) although he is not a outgoing person, but
that doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy what he does, he just doesn't
    express it.
Although I have to say in the interviews that the Spanish tv makes to
him after the races, he looks always happy (unless it has been a very
bad result, and even then he is always a positive person) and transmit
excitement. And he always explains the races in a very natural way, so
in my opinion that appeals a lot the motorcycling afficionado.

And if you compare Casey with someone like Rossi, Stoner doesn't
    transmit so much enthusiasm either...
