  5. That's the point. He wouldn't have been. No way. But they used the most
convenient piece of legislation to stop him.

This is nothing new you know...

'Agents of the State' have been using laws passed to protect the
population against the population for years. I've been on the receiving
end of them in the past (certainly over the last 21 years) and I've been
    'woughly tweated by the pigs'.

Anyway, I'm an Enemy Within so that makes it ok.

Not to mention all the blokes (and blokesses) who sell numberplates on
Ebay which have a disclaimer to avoid having to do the Swansea check.

Of all the stupid, obviously pointless, pieces of legislation this
number plate check nonsense is one of the worst. You can't possibly
prevent people selling pieces of plastic with numbers and letters on
    them.

  9. In Melbourne Australia - the automated speed camera's have a 3km/h
tolerance.. so at 100km/h zone if your doing 103 your fucked...

revenue raising has the same filthy stench no matter where you are in
    the world I reckon.

I've heard they're even hotter on it out there, than here in the UK.

What sort 'points' system do you have on your licences there, as in how many
points score you a ban, and how many do you get, if they do like here, as in
'fixed penalty' punishments, so long as you're not *that* much over the
    speed limit?
Indeed... welcome to the 21st century.

If they are anything like a java card, the slightest cut in the wrong
    place can render them useless.

Last time I got flashed was for 37mph and my speedo was reading exactly 40.
There should be a separate offence for being a TC and forgetting that
the limit has changed from 40 to 30.

[1] Yes two. Depressing isn't it. Not both on the same bit of road
though and separated by 4 years

My PC loads it into WORD. It reads fine, and I can cut it okay. As soon as I
try pasting it then my PC freezes.

    Weird.

Why? You want to see if a chip is embedded in a new number plate, mb has
access to X Ray equipment but doesn't have a new UK plate and wants you
to send him one so he can test it.

It all seems perfectly reasonable to me.

There again I could always walk to the motor factors at the bottom of my
road who have a brand spanking new number plate making machine and ask if
embedded chip related computer wizardry is involved in making up the
    plates.
