    You go for it.
Don't let anyone tell you its difficult, its personal.
I gave up about 11 years ago and it was a piece of piss.
I bought a load of dope and only smoked dope every time I wanted a fag.
I was too fucked to bother smoking and couldn't be arsed to roll another.

The hardest part was losing the weight!

I can't work out whether the above statement indicates you're going to
    the BOSM or not.

I was but now I won't. Minor local difficulties and not the work related
    ones I'd originally envisaged.

Keep tuned for up to the minute wavering ...

Don't think about it as giving up, rather you've stopped. To give up
implies losing something worthwhile, given I stopped 28 years ago I
can't think of anything worthwhile in using the weed. It's also worth
observing smokers, they can look funny at times.
Strangely my worst times came at day 3, week 3, and month 3, but much
water drinking and fruit eating when I fancied a ciggy took me through
it. Also found engaging in mouth washes, teeth cleaning 4 or 5 times a
day made me more reluctant to smoke.

When offered a ciggarette don't refuse with 'I've given up', some
pratts will see that as a challenge to get you back on them. A simple
'I don't smoke thanks' does the job.

I'm from the worst/best breed of anti-smoker, conceited, arrogant and
self rightious but then I've beaten the bastard nicotine. But I'm a
hell of a lot richer than before, or maybe in a lot less debt, much
    healthier etc.

    Stay with it.

Eh? Don't cigars contain tobacco anymore?

If he's not inhaling them (as he shouldn't if just a cigar smoker)
then the amount of nicotine he would have taken in through the gums
    would have been minimal.[/QUOTE]

Well yes, but that's not what he said...
Anyroadup, nicotine would be absorbed by the rest of the mouth also and
if TOG was an ex cigarette smoker, then he would have more of a
    tendency to inhale.
Then there's his own second hand smoke.

You forgot to point out that you're probably considerably faster than
he is on a bike. **** all the non-smokers, I watched Daz beg for a
smoke after his K5 did a good imitation of an ice dancer in a French
    lay by.

But I am losing something worthwhile, I've stopped doing something
that I enjoyed and something that helped pass the time. I've stopped
going into The Smoking Room and having a nice natter with friends
while doing the crossword with them. I've given up on some of the
most social moments of my day.
    In what way?
If I found that I was having to clean my teeth five times a day in
order for me to keep from smoking I wouldn't count that as having
stopped smokingm just have developed some bizarre excessive compulsive
    disorder.
Or "no ta, but keep that thought - I might take you up on your offer
    at a later date."
I don't wish to be an anti-smoker. Anti-smokers are cunts, IMHO,
there are a couple at work and all they do all day is say how glad
they are they don't smoke anymore and how much better they feel about
not smoking and how they don't need to smoke anymore. In fact, most
of their day is taken up talking about smoking which can't be a good
    sign.

I'll have you know that was deliberate. I considered PPK, H&K and
several others before the blinding flash gave me a picture of a Bear
stuffed with fibreglass filler. Most people don't appreciate the care
I take over my hand-crafted posts, you know.

  19. Trouble was, I used to inhale them..... Not all of the time, but very
    frequently. With hindsight, not clever.

    Never smoked ciggies.
