strawberries in a top box

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by mr p, Jul 16, 2007.

  1. And lose the capacity and knowledge that we have in this country for
    growing our own crops?
Indeed. But with the way the supermarket system is set up you don't get
that choice - you get presented with what they have decided you want..
Depends on how much you paid for the arguement.

Fair point, but I'm (hopefully) a lot less patient and tolerant with folk,
    than I used to be.
Considering my religion, it'd be surprising if I weren't..

No, a herring is a saltwater fish - a strawberry is a fruit. And they
do vary considerably in size, flavour and consistency.
Sure, but the difference between a tiger and, say, a tdm? Or a
varadero or any of the other monster trailies. Not much, I'd say.
Not at all. I happen to think it's quite a good analogy, and the proof
of that is evident in your wriggling.

Have you any valid reason to suppose that said strawberries were any
    more "chemical-ridden" than English ones?

    No, I thought not.
    And avaliability, timing, quality, reliability...

  6. If it damages the merkin economy and brings the whole stinking country
to its knees it is a result in my book.
    Shitty strawberries.

  7. Quite the opposite. The British climate, especially below the line from
the Bristol to the Wash is as near as ideal for the cultivation of
strawberries as it gets, Essex being best of all. Pesticides will have
been used certainly but the rest, our temperate maritime climate, is
    just right for them.

So that is utter fucking bollox you are talking.

What about the CO2 produced by the seasonal East European migrants who
travel to Herefordshire, by the coach load, to pick those strawberries?

This is true, your rattles usually go straight up. I dunno what damage
they do to the stratosphere though.

  12. Not above burning down the odd forest for grazing, iirc, very harmonious
I must say. Anyway, if they had developed an Industrial Revolution of
their own, say 1000 years ago, we might all be singing from the Cherokee
    hymnsheet.

Youmin beings being much of a muchness across the planet, ie, greedy,
selfish and short-termist en masse, I'm inclined to suspect that if
there had happened to be more native peoples, supported by agriculture
and a manufacturing base, they'd have fucked it up just as spectacularly
as those of us from the West/North/1st World.

    No, it won't.

If the entire population of the UK returned to the fucking stone age,
it would make piss all difference, seeing as how 40% of the world's
population intends to be as industrialised as "the West".
    It's all bollocks.

With all the 10 A* GCSE scholars our wonderful education system is
producing, I'm sure a cheap solution will be found in the next few
    years anyway.

I'm sure we've discussed before the fact that in certain countries
families sell their children into slavery because it's the only way
the remaining family members will get the money to put food on the
    table.
You can eat strawberries but you can't eat designer trainers or
    footballs.
