  1. 'One in, all in': bikers clocked at 250kmh

A learner motorcycle rider and his mate have had their bikes impounded
by police after a high-speed pursuit that reached up to 250kmh near
    Mansfield, in Victoria's north-east.

Police spotted the two Mooroopna men, both 28, travelling around
135kmh near Maindample on Saturday morning.

While officers tried to intercept one of the motorcyclists - a
suspended licence holder on a 1000cc Yamaha - the other man overtook,
    speeding away.

During the prevailing pursuit, police estimated the first rider was
travelling around 200kmh, while the second, a learner rider on a
1000cc Suzuki, hit speeds of around 250kmh.

The first rider later told police he had been prepared to pull over
until his mate took off, saying it was "one in, all in".

The pair were eventually intercepted by Mansfield police, who
impounded both vehicles for 48 hours.

They will be charged with offences including exceeding 100kmh, failing
to stop for police, speeding and failing to stop for police.

Senior Sergeant Bill Gore, of Wangaratta traffic management unit, said
they were lucky not to have been killed, and their behaviour showed
    complete disregard for other motorists.

"The pursuit took place on an extremely narrow highway, with only one
lane of traffic travelling in each direction," he said.

Senior Sergeant Gore said traffic on Maroondah Highway had been heavy
on the day due to a reunion of cast members from The Man From Snowy
River in Merrijig and a rave party at Mount Buller.

"It is incredible to think that there are people out there who not
only think they can get away with this type of behaviour but are
prepared to risk the safety of others," he said.

"The irony is that had the men stopped during the initial intercept
attempt, while they would both have faced fines for several offences,
they wouldn't have had the motorcycles impounded or faced other
    serious charges."

The men will charged on summons to face court at a later date.

Police have already impounded 118 vehicles across Victoria, including
    10 motorcycles, this year.

I think you're giving the Hyosung more credit than it's due.

Only if it was shorter than the distance gravity would take to do all
    the work it can.
