The wife mentioned that the warning message was coming
up in the car about the rear brake lights failing. We've had
this before as it sometimes gives a false reading, and
I've cleaned the bulbs and reseated and they work fine.

I told her this but she thinks the bulbs "might be getting low".

    Bless.

I did ask what she wanted me to do about them but
I guess I should have told her to pop to the dealer
    and get them topped up.

Sucking his keyboard for inspiration, The Older Gentleman typed:
That's OK. It's when the magic smoke starts escaping you have to worry
    about getting it replenished.

When I was a lad (1960's), my dad would drive his Morris 1100 around at
night on sidelights alone and would only turn on his dipped beams when there
was another car coming. He said it was to save the battery.

Just spent today putting one on the Clio[1] after Jean not realising that
the red light on the dash was normal and breaking down with a flat
    battey.

[1] And they are a PITA to do on a Clio!
