Don't we have a Sugarland resident, or two, in here ? Gary
I was listening to a radio show today related to SL. It sounded like a great place, and I wanted to ask any resident about their experience(s).
Well, the radio show in which I was listening, featured the Mayor of SL. Apparently, SL has been voted by some magazine as the third best city of Texas/US, in which to live. Wait a minute.... let me see if I can firm up that claim a little. I'm back.... It was Money magazine, and here's a link: http://www.kltv.com/Global/story.asp?S=5158853&nav=1TjD Along with a couple of others - caveat emptor.... http://www.sugarlandrelocation.com/ http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cach...arland"++"best+city"&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=2 Anyway, I've been looking for a more retirement friendly area, and the verbal picture painted of SL seemed as it might be attractive. It seems like there was a member of this group some time ago that lived in SL. As I recall, he had just purchased a crated 2003 Honda Valkyrie. Soon thereafter, he suffer- ed some financial difficult(y)(ies) and had to sell the bike. Using Google to search tx.moto, I see that the name for which I was referring is Lynn McGuire. Apparently, he's had no usenet postings since 4/2005. Anyone else have any pro/con details on SL? Thanks, Gary
Thanks for the reply. I recall the '03 Valk buy/sale. I just wanted to ask a few questions about life in SL. Nothing too complicated, just cost of living stuff, and quality of life/retirement issues. Since your reply is masked, maybe you could reply to me. Or, I guess we can use the NG. Thanks, Gary
Thanks Lynn. I did review the taxes on one of the prop- erties in your FBCAD. The guy on the radio led the aud- ience to believe SL had low tax rates, but that's just not so. They might be favorable when compared to some place like NYC, east/west coast, but not Texas. I did see the M.U.D. references in the datasheet. I don't know what that means, but there are many of these class- ifications. Because of all the taxing entities(the subject property had 7), and the various rates, the eventual taxes are even higher than in Dallas. I need to look further out in the country. Thanks again for your help, and I'm glad to hear that your wife has successfully recovered from cancer. Gary

I just got back. That's where my wife's horse lives and when she works I get to work him and feed him.
No, didn't fly in either. But I do enjoy seeing the big screen at the 'Skeeters ballpark when they are there playing. They are right across SH 6 from the airport. Some day I will actually pony up a buck or two and take in a game.
