Hmm..........now that looks interesting, as does one of your other
suggestions, the kmx200. Any idea what sort of price for halfway reasonable
    specimens?

Second thoughts - not the KMX200 - top speed only circa 67mph.

TMack emerged from their own little world to say
No. Finding one, especially the KMX will be the problem. They are the sort
of bikes that people buy and rarely sell.

Only 5 DRs on Autotrader: cheapest is £1250 for a 1991 bike!

You want a nice little Z200, you do. 280lbs, 80mph top whack,
    4-countries-in-a-day transcontinental über-tourer.

  6. GN is nice. Better than an SR - smoother and sweeter. And the early
    drum-braked SRs are lethal.

    The CD250 is physically small, anyway. Like a 400 Four or a GPZ900R it's
compact, so you don't seem o notice the weight.

  7. Don't. They're great off road, and utterly appalling on it. Crippling
seat, ridiculously thirsty for the engine and performance, and rather
slow. As a road bike, an XT350 is miles better (but worse on the dirt).

Was going to suggest a SOCB250N, but checked the specs and it comes in
at 172kg (380lb). They are quite easy to drag around as I can lift the
    back end off the ground.

    Can't do that with the 12R ;)

Ah, now then, I happen to have a little SR250 sitting in the front
garden. Needs some work, no tax or MOT, much cheapness though. Area:
    Reading, Berks.

  11. Fair dos. I was thinking of the full-power XTs anyway. The one I rode
pulled an indicated 90 - not far short of the 600, albeit with lots less
    torque.

And you're right about the kickstart DRs - fucking pigs to start, they
were, if they stalled when hot.

I bought my DR350 off Alan Bates in Rhayader (Selwyns). He told me the bike
was easy to kick start and proved it by starting it with his hand.

The XR600 was another story - an absolute bugger to start when hot. Loopy
fast on the long straight bits though.

Its comforting to know that mine is not a solitary vice. I have a CX500
    Eurosport.

Black. only 19,000 miles and quite tidy. However, its a bit poorly ATM -
needs a fork seal and one front caliper is sticking a bit but I am looking
forwatd to getting it back on the road within the next few weeks.

    19K? Not 119K perchance? :)

Well, if it doesn't make funny clonking noises at idle and there's no
water on the crankcase below the carbs then it'll prolly be a good
    'un.

Red CX500-As maybe, but Eurosports *have* to be black or white.

They did red ones too. Rare, but they did 'em.
