    Embryonic route: http://tinyurl.com/caxy8j

Any takers? Or suggestions for a route from a suitable start point to
    the A338?

Hmmm, tempting, if I can get the bike fixed tomorrow, starting where and
when? I'd be the old grey scruff on an old grey scruff...

You don't go too fast do you?

Er, I dunno. "A suitable start point." I'd be coming from SW London.
Define "too fast". In the context of what's in my sig.

I know a man in Barnes who has at least one bike he never rides. And
    there's a 1098 in Maidenhead that probably hasn't turned a wheel in a
    while either.

I'd offer the RGV but it doesn't have an MOT (curse you, credit crunch!)
and it'd probably collapse under the weight anyway.

The Paul & Harry vs Dragon's Den stuff has been pretty good too.

  8. I like the sound of something that finishes close to my home town.

How about making it finish in Wantage and having the best fucking Thai
Sunday meal you've ever tasted in your life ?

    RGV... GSXR...

    /thinks:
They go around corners, they do.
    /thinks no more;

Well, as long as there are some straight bits where I can catch up....

Well, the bikes do, I dunno so much about the rider.

It just so happens the first draft of my route was anticlockwise rather
than clockwise, thereby leaving me doing Wantage - Hungerford at the
    end.

But, given my feelings about Thai food, the best fucking Thai Sunday
meal I might ever taste in my life would probably involve accidentally
stumbling across a restaurant in Thailand that does a decent roast and
an owner who's never even heard of lemongrass, let alone tried to stick
it in a curry, green or otherwise.

    no chance.

I am hoping to get the new tyres on the KTM this afternoon, but I'm
not intending to head to the fucking west country.

    hmmm tempting.

Can't think of an excuse at the moment, tho' I'm sure one will arise.

But you really ought to do the B4494 out of Wantage, rather than the
    A338...

  14. Heh.... not a fan then.

Shame, our local called Yummy was voted in the best top 10 thai restaurants
    in the UK.

Have I picked the wrong road?

I wanted the twisty one over the hills. V used to commute along it every
day but she has no idea which one's which on a map.

  16. Aye, as Wilson says, the B4494 from Donnington Bridge in Newbury to Wantage
is the fun one, uphill, down hill, couple of long fast sweepers, some twisty
stuff & a couple of **** off straights.
It Used to be my commute from Grove to Newbury College everyday when I was a
    yoof.
The Hungerford road aint bad and has a couple long fast sweepers as you come
up to the Ridgeway, but nowhere near as fun as the Newbury Road.

It'll take over 1.5 hours (80 miles) to get to your start point. Sod that.

  20. Any idea what time you'll be hitting Wantage ?

I'll try and be up in time to meet you at the statue.

Obviously won't be keeping up to the gixxer but a nice run out should be
    fun.
