Forty-year-old Darryl McPherson, of Caloundra, and 63-year-old William Hine,
of Bells Creek, were killed instantly when they collided on the Bruce
Highway at Bells Creek at 5.45am yesterday.

Mr Hine, an Energex employee, was on his way to work.

He was riding along Bells Creek Road.

Mr McPherson was attempting to perform a U-turn in an allocated centre zone
    of the Bruce Highway.

Police said it was not clear in which direction the motorbikes were heading,
despite early reports, and issued a plea for witnesses to come forward.

Two of my brothers, the twins, were riding in the same direction on their
trail-bikes talking to each other. Due to the difficulty in hearing such a
conversation, they got too close and their handle-bars touched. Fortunately
both lived to tell the tale, but both spent a week in hospital.
