Oh, I would and do declare any points as it seems to make little
    difference to insurance prices.

Last time I renewed my car insurance I recall the points question being
    seperate from the convictions question.

I don't equate points equalling a conviction as all the CRB checks I've
had done over the years have never come back with me having a conviction
due to points on my licence.

Most, if not all, insurers ask separately about non-motoring
    convictions. Voila, all bases covered.

My simple answer to this question is "Mind your own business, it has
nothing to do with my driving record". If they insist on having this
information I tell them to stick it up their arse and find another
insurer. I don't have any criminal convictions that I would have to
declare, but I object strongly to a motor insurer wanting to know this
when it has **** all to do with motoring, as it's just something more
    to load your policy for.

Carole Nash have neevr asked me if I have any none motoring convictions

I've never been asked either - well, not that I can recall. But then
I'm not a recidivist like Ogden.

Ohhh thats bad, her indoors got done by the same camera twice in two
days and when she drove me there a few days later she was about to do
the same again until i reminded her, oh she said "i never go this slow"
    talk about stating the obvious.

You should have taken the opportunity to ask about the legality of the

No the same thing, being guilty and being convicted are separate things.

Indeed. And anyone who finds themselves uninsured because they didn't
declare a fine or points would be welcome to try that line of
    argument.

As it happens, most companies I've dealt with have explicitly excluded
speeding offences. But otherwise you need to remember that insurance
contracts are contracts of utmost good faith.

IIRC, the speeding/points bit is usually separate from convictions on the
    form I have filed in.

But I would not put speeding in a conviction box, that is (IMO) for DD
    etc.
