    From To Distance Mode Time
    Albion Park Sydney CBD 98km ZX9R[1] 70-90min
Albion Park Sydney CBD 98km Train 120-130min[2]

[1] This is via the Princes Hwy and F6 freeway, then back onto the Princes
Hwy, through to Alexandria, around the backway then up Pitt Street. Return
trips tend to be a little quicker - go figure.

[2] Although last week it could have been anywhere up to 240min!! Bloody
    train drivers.

Takes me longer on the bike than in the car most days assuming travelling at
the speed limit, because as a rule I don't travel in peak hour, I get stopped
at the same number of traffic lights regardless which I take and low traffic
volumes don't make lane splitting very advantageous, the car is parked in the
driveway, the bike is in the garage.. by the time I've got the bike out of the
garage and put all my gear on I'd probably be a km or two down the road in the
car. The roads I use aren't major thoroughfares to the CBD, however they
intersect with several major roads heading into the city, so the traffic
signal sequences favour the other roads.. a couple of "just turned" red light
and the boom gate coming down at the railway crossing just as I approach can
add 10 mins to the journey, regardless of the vehicle, or the time of day.

Sheet, get a mongoose and cut your travelling times by half!!!
(Biased!) Am the proud owner of a new Mongoose AL, as a result of my old
Repco being nicked from outside work in Brunswick.

Repco > Mongoose... Let's say I'm not complaining.
    ; )

  18. From To Distance Mode
    Time
    Blaxland Wetherill Park 42km R1100R
    32-40 minutes
Blaxland Wetherill Park 42km K100RS sidecar
    32-40 minutes
    Blaxland Wetherill Park 42km Jaguar
    32-40 minutes

The main difference is what time I leave, the traffic mostly flows, so lane
    splitting doesnt save much time.

  19. What takes you so long, or what am I doing differently?!! From
Balgowlah to Syd Uni bike park... on a rip snorter of a day - 22 mins,
average 25, a stinker (jammed on the flyover) 30 mins. Car? Forget
    it, up to an hour.

Unc. Bul, what are you riding, you're not the white Beemer who wears
his wet weather pants regardless of the weather are you?

Park them both in the same spot, but.......

    .........I don't have to **** around putting on boots & jacket & & earplugs &
helmet & attitude when driving the shopping-trolley, then I don't have to
reverse the process at the other end.

Bikes make shithouse transport, imho, and shouldn't be ridden for less than
half an hour at a time.
