And the majority of respondents would be conversant with the capabilities
of Jarno Saarinen, Angel Nieto, Phil Reed, Kim Newcombe, Jim Redmond, Kork
Ballington, Gregg Hansford, Dave Petersen, Hugh Anderson, and even Mike
Hailwood, Giacomo Agostini, Freddie Spencer and Eddie Lawson would they?

    WHAT VALENTINO SAID
On fame: "It is very difficult, for sure. I am always at work. It is for
that I move from Italy to London because it is more easy to have a private
life. It is quite difficult. When you are at the GP it is normal, but when
you are at home you want your normal life back. Sometimes this is
    impossible."

On Mick Doohan: "A great champion."

    Money: "Quite important."

Michael Schumacher: "The best Formula One driver."

Beer: "I like it not so bad."

Girls: "The first passion of everybody." [ONYA V/R !]

Australia: "I love this place. The track is incredible, but also the
    people."

    Your welcome V/R

Gee, there's a shocker. (Although at least he's honest, so I suppose
    credit where credit is due.)
I don't know that he was really referring to you in particular
    there.

Agostini was a great rider. Unfortunately his victories were obtained at a
time when there was little competition between the factories. He competed in
three classes simultaneously, 250, 350, and 500. You're not allowed to do
that now. In many races he was the only rider on a factory bike, all the
    other entrants being privateers.

I think Angel was better than Ago, but Rossi is the best.

The fact that the older set of riders raced no holds barred on street
circuits with little or no provisions for safety, gets my respect.

Rossi would have been good to have around in the days of Doohan,
    Lawson, Rainey, Swantz and Mamola.

Rossi owes much of his success to the lack of competition. He's up
there with the greats but has never raced against them.

    2 things go against him

1/Racing only on the hahaonda [ie the best bike]

2/Okada & Creville as the "toughest" comp.....

If you'd stop tugging off to dreams of monkey-boy long enough to read
a little GP history you'd know how Doohan made a winner out of a bike
that no-one else wanted to ride. Google "Doohan, Big-bang and
    Screamer."
You forgot Gardner, Rainey, Lawson, and Schwantz. As you always
    conveniently do.

How many former World Champions has monkey-boy competed against?

    Kenny Roberts...Junior...

Even then he can't win by the sort of distances that Doohan did when
he made racing "boring as batshit"...

Don't even count monkey-boy's 'Gimme' championship in 2002. Shades of
    Ago...

Never mind those also rans like Lawson, Mamola, Schwantz, Gardner, Spencer,
Haslam and the like. I'm sure they don't count for anything.

Hi Theo, was Hailwood that did the three classes - Agostini only did
    the 350 / 500 races.

Motogp.com says that Ago's first GP was the 250 at West Germany in 1964 but
doesn't have any other details (and no 250 wins or podia).
