Oh I say, never mind working with the business lets become the business.

"Train drivers' union Aslef is planning to put in a bid to run a main
railway line as a not-for-profit business"

Be fascinating to see that come to pass and watch how it panned out. Can't
be a Closed Shop these days though ;o)

No Fat Controller jokes now, you lot.

We shall see when the bids are called for - the story has been picked up
by the PA from some internal but open communications, IYSWIM.

The closed shop is an interesting comment and not in a trade union
    context.

    It's puppy fat.

Oh do tell. In certain sectors I think I think it would be perfectly
reasonable for all employees to have TU membership. Not any particular Union
    of course.
It would be a brilliant experiment for the rail network but even more so for
the UK Trade Union movement. So where do I donate to the Fighting Fund.

The requirements of financing and the relationship with commercial banking
interests will be ever so interesting if this comes to pass.

Pass it around eh! Royal Mail is begging to be handed over to a NFP Co-Op
under a universal service mandate, taken out of the hands of the
Government/Board of Directors that are killing it.

As a not-for-profit, well I couldn't see it being anything else.

What I want to see is the TUC sponsored [Jim Larkin | Ben Tillett |
Tolpuddle Martyrs | Arthur Scargill (memorial)] City Academy:
evolution and union cards all round.

NXEC was supposed to make a ?1.4 Billion payment to the Gov't over the
franchise period - over and above the profit paid to the NX shareholders.

Oh I think there will be a flurry of donations to put Scargill under a
    Memorial
