I've an unused vignette for 2006 - don't know what to do with it.

Cover it with eggs and flour and bake it for 40 minutes.

Looks like you did the right thing, all the non mway roads closed for
    repair season.

    (Cue rant)

Where did the Swiss get the idea that *not* numbering roads and *not*
sticking road numbers on signs an *not* listing obvious big towns was a
    good idea ?

Also, why when they do stick a road number on a sign, do they do it in the
same colour ? (ie it was blue on the last one and white on the next).

And when they are doing road works, why do they think all you need to k
now is the nname of the next but 2 town sign (not on map) is crossed out
and that they then try and put you back on the motorway you have just got
off (because the nice police man let you go as far as the 1st services
    without a vignette thing).

It occured to me, the reason that Switzerland has not been invaded is not
because they have all the money but because all the signs
point the wrong way and and have un mapped towns on them. And on some
maps the road continues despite nit not showing on the map !
(We were at a closed road, all the deviations went places we did not nwant
to go , the conversation with loverly swiss lass went thus:-

Me:- Can you show me how to get here ?

Her:- yes , take this road , head for <someplace> then go here.

Me:- But there is no road from <someplace> to <someother place>

Her:- Trust me, there is, bit it is very small.

    (End rant)

    Loverly country though.

I can never make up my mind. Best get the Tartiflette for lunch, ski
like hell, then go for the Raclette in evening. Then explode.

We entered at Basle, on Mway, had to queue to get in (and boy was it hot),
wasn't sure if it was a good idea to filter with the cop standing at the
    front of the queue.

Then with the road works we felt we had made a wrong turning.... into
    Switzerland ! :)
    I know a nice B&B :)

Hmm. Do you really need one, as a casual tourist? I'll be off to the
Alps in a couple of weeks, and would prefer to ride on all other kinds
of roads than M-ways. I assume there are plenty of alternative routes?

Cheers. How come you didn't 'use' it anyway? Just left it in the tank

Plenty of roads, sure, but the motorways are good and often will be
_much_ quicker than the little twisty alternatives. So it depends if
you've got any distances to cover or if you've got all the time and
energy in the world. TBH I don't ride much in CH, which fact I must
    remedy soon.

Which reminds me, I'll be reviving my September plans soon, so those
who expressed an interest should expect an email in the next few
    days...

And did they do an on-the-spot fine? Or just make you buy the
