SYD: Ride Sunday 15th

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by James Mayfield, Jan 13, 2005.

  1. Anyone interested?

It will be down southerly type way.

Maybe around the oaks and Picton for a while, and King George the Whateverth
for lunch, then down to 'Gong, to play on Mac Pass, Kanga Valley etc.

James Mayfield is of the opinion:
Make sure you stop by our joint. SWMBO has a new way to get to the Mac.
pass which we did today -- *fun* (but bumpy), and it does a *nice* job of
    avoiding Yallah and Albion Park.

    Hi Matt,

Any clues as to this new route? We always to the Nasho => freeway (zzzzzz)
=> right at the roundabout at Albion to Mac Pass.

    Sounds interesting.

    Cheers,
    Dave

    Hi Tim,

I'll check it out next time.
It amazes me that nothing seems to be happening on that coast road. Must
have killed the local economy. There are rumors that some kind of suspended
roadway will be built just off the coastline - can't see this happening for
    ages.

Shame - those twisties were a bit of fun. :)

    Cheers,
    Dave

Yeah, I want you for your body Big, but you just don't seem to want to
party :) Ta ! I recalled you posting this up a year or two ago, so I was going to
google it, but thanks for saving me the trouble.
    Have fun.

Dave E is of the opinion:
Sorry, didn't mean to be a shortcut hog, was just abusing usenet as a
    private discussion group.

If you're just coming straight down the freeway, keep going down the freeway
and take the Dapto (Fowlers Road) exit, and turn to the right. Get onto the
Princes Hwy heading south (so a left turn onto the highway from Fowlers Rd)
and continue south until you just start to head into bushland. Take the
right turn into Huntley Rd (sign to Avondale and somewhere else), take the
first left (immediately after the train line).

Go like the clappers, being wary of narrow bridges, dirt from driveways,
stray cows, etc. You'll come to the terminating part of a T intersection,
turn left, then take the first right after the school (North Macquarie Rd).
Again, like the clappers, but take it a bit easy the first time -- there's a
left hander that doesn't look tight until you're right on it, and the corner
is covered in gravel for that extra-brownness in the trousers. There's a
wet-bridge right before the end, and then it's right-turn to Mac Pass or
    left-turn to Albion Park.

If you want extra fun, it's off at the Figtree/Hospital exit (the one where
the left lane just disappears), left at the lights, past the bullshit speed
camera, left at the lights, hammer it over Mt. Keira and down Mt. Kembla,
(remember the left turn into Harry Graham Dr. once you're on the top of the
mountain so you don't end up on Picton Rd) then back dooooown the mountain,
through the villages, to the roundabout onto the Princes Hwy[1] and follow
the princes Hwy all the way down to Dapto, through Dapto and onto the
    aforementioned route at Huntley Rd.

    - Matt

[1] take a left onto Amaroo Ave about 200m before the roundabout, then first
right and 2nd left into White Pl and knock on the door of the house with the
VW in front and say hello to us if you'd like.

bandit-12 or a maroon white and black KR1 (depending on whether I have a
    pillion or not).

You guys gunna be there now ? :) Or is that enough of a threat to make
    you stay away ?

    snip
They are in the process of building yet another bloody ugly bridge. This one
is near 1km long an cuts out the twisties as it runs just off shore from
    them

The twisties are gone, consigned to that great road in the sky.
