I'm heading up to Tahoe (west shore, Tahmoa specifically) early Saturday
morning to see my niece and I'm coming back that afternoon.

Can anyone recommend a nice return route? I'd hate to take 80 back.

    Thanks

  3. Brandon,

This time of year (with Kirkwood closed) Hiway 88 is really nice. My folks
live in Pioneer (about 30 miles north of Jackson), and the roads are in very
good condition all the way through.

50 into the valley? Yee gads.

    Take -

50 out to Kyburz, Silver Fork Road, South to 88.

88 West to Pioneer, to 26/104

South East on 26 to Mokelume Hill....

Then whatever you want from there... :)

  6. how about (for the return run) 108 westbound to Twain Harte, then take the
back road to Tuolomne City, Wards Ferry Rd to Big Oak Flat (on 120), then
Priest-Coulterville to Coulterville, and 132 across the central
wastelands... cut over to Patterson, and take Del Puerto Canyon up to Mt
Hamilton, drop down Quimby to SJ near Eastridge... :)

that was how *I* got back from a run over the sierras a few weeks back.
    avoided *ALL* freeways :)
