There may be unseen damage to the wheel bearings, swingarm bearings,
suspension, rear brake & tyre. Any or all could fail without warning
causing you to career into a group of children[1], killing them all to
    death.

The only safe option is to sell me the bike for a tenner, & I'll make
    sure it's crushed.

I had a similar incident in Paris a few years ago. I was stopped at
red lights and I saw in my mirrors, an articulated lorry come
barrelling down the road. In this case, I managed to put on a bit of
throttle and move out his way, whilst he carried on through the red
    lights.

Fucking glad I did, otherwise I'd have ended up as a hood ornament.

It wouldn't be a career if you only did it once.

If it's fairly open and shut, and you don't get silly on the claim, it
can be relatively painless. Twatty's insurers paid me out just five
weeks after the initial crunch, because they obviously reckoned (a)
they hadn't a leg to stand on and (b) I wasn't demanding a lot of
money; a helluva lot less than it would have cost to get the bike
    fixed up professionally.

I wound up with a spare set of panniers and £160 to the good, plus a
few small chips and paint scabs I can live with.

If it does come to that, I can thoroughly recommend:

The service is better than you'd get from your insurer, even being
fully comp when someone crashes into you :)

    VJ22 model?

If so think I might know where there is one that was removed from a
race bike when it was being prepped for the track.

Fortunately it no longer seems to be required. I took the seat unit off
this evening and the bent bit was easy to spot - one bracket at the back
end, easily bashed back into shape with a hammer.

Of course, now I have the seat unit off, it's tempting to keep going and
replace it all with Tyga bits...

I was inferring he might need a considerably larger savings pot if the
grasping bitch fucks off when he becomes dole scum.
