What about people who don't GAF?

I went back to the OED and

" 1. a. Confidence, reliance, trust (in the ability, goodness, etc.,
of a person; in the efficacy or worth of a thing; or in the truth of a
    statement or doctrine)."

Pretty much covers my assertion that it is not limited to a religious
    frame work.
How about sending SAEs to Cane in the expectation of spangly stickers?

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Is that there are some
non-religious examples of 'faith' where such a faith is well-founded?
If so, like Simian, I'd like to hear some examples.

Not that I want to cast the faith net too wide, but I once read a
similar challenge to some well known writer on philosophical and
    spiritual matters.

His reply was that he had faith that his three year old child 'loved'
him. Now we can argue about the meaning of that tricky love word, but I
see where he was coming from.

Cane said "The entire concept of faith is pretty stupid which ever way
    you look at it."

I said (as above) "Think about the things that you take on faith. It's
not limited to a religious framework."
Pretty much any interaction with another human being.
Would it help if we used the word trust instead of faith? Is it the
word or the concept you object to?

  11. I believe in the non-existence of flying pigs. I don't see a fat lot of
faith in that, just that the whole idea is silly. And of course its much
more likely that there might exist such an unlikely animal, than a super-
being floating around in the sky.

The funny thing is that I always get a laugh out of people preaching
to me. It's rare that they walk away smiling so obviously I've got a
different sense of humour to god botherers.

Are you trying to say that suicide bombers are retards that have been
specifically picked for the job because they've got an IQ in minus
    figures?

I actually believe that a lot of bombers are far from stupid, it's
just that they don't believe in the same things as I do and think that
dying in an attempt to change things is the only option they've got
    left.

I've got news for them: they can always be nuked if they fancy going
    out in a fireball.

They appear as bold vertical lines in the bit I quoted and as question
    marks (as above) in yours.

    So, I don't know.

"There's Mrs Thomas with her son John, she knows he is her
child, that's truth. Mr Thomas believes John is his child,
    that's faith."

    Seemed relevant.

How come O'Leary got the sole rights to that route?

Or, did il Papa actually issue a decree then?

Well, not all of them, but those who don't fancy blowing themselves up
have started using people with mental problems for suicide-by-proxy.
The chap in Exeter was one, but he's not the first. Al Qaida have -
supposedly - been happily loading up disabled people and pointing them
in the general direction of a public place before pressing the
plunger. A kid with Downs was used to blow up a polling station 2005
and two Downs women were used in Baghdad earlier in the year.
