    Hi,

In my local area [1] last week, vast swathes of perfectly good road has been
tarred and gritted (the cheap, quick method).

It seems to be everywhere, and for no good reason. Some stretches are only a
few feet long. There's no obvious logic, but it's everywhere I go now, from
main roads to small backstreets on council estates.

It looks like someone has found a boat-load of grit and felt the need to use
    it.

    Any else experiencing the same?

    B something or other..

A lot of it is still fine, but some bits have been splatted.. it'll
probably be as good as ever in a cvouple of weeks, as I din;t take it
    much easier.

To be honest I can barely remember the journey home, I was nursing the
worst hangover I've had in several years.

Are these the medium sized grey stone chips, or the very small brown
things that are supposed to offer good braking surface?

"Surface dressing". Occurs commonly in drifts from a couple of inches
to a couple of feet thick, usually in Summer, frequently just on the
apex of corners. On of my (many) pet hates.

  8. They've been doing it in and around Norwich for a couple of months now.
Mostly they don't sweep up very well and on a particularly hot day it all
comes loose and gets thrown to the edges and middle of the road anyway. It
amazes me that in this age of H&S nazis and road safety campaigners local
authorities can get away with using the stuff.

Dunno what all the fuss is about. A bunch of fucking big gurls blouses

I noticed that coming home this morning from Mundesley. I rode the same
road on Saturday and between then and now they decided to cover a huge
section from North Walsham to Spixworth in nasty grey stone surface
    dressing.
