I'm still waiting to hear from Limoges about Voxan spares availability and prices. plus an estimate for worst case scenario labour time for a bottom end rebuild on the Roadster. Very tempted to bid on this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/250700332131 Talk me out of it (not a Shiver per se, but filling up the space in the garage that I only just cleared). A fair few of them about, so I should really wait until the spring. -- +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pete Fisher at Home: | | Voxan Roadster Yamaha WR250Z/Supermoto "Old Gimmer's Hillclimber" | | Gilera GFR * 2 Moto Morini 2C/375 Morini 350 "Forgotten Error" | +-------------------------------------------------------------------+
189 Kgs isn't too bad as the Voxan is 184 (though that is a full 1000, but only 100 BHP, TBF). Seat height/width could be an issue. I see the 210 model has gone down from 810 to 800 mm. I'm used to a very progressive throttle response on the Roadster, despite it having a Magneti Marelli system dating from 2000. But that has lots of low down grunt. The Shiver is only a 750 when all said and done. Part of me wants to keep the Voxan, and if they hadn't shut up shop I would definitely do so if the cost of a repair wasn't astronomical. Don't want just a museum piece that I can't thrash, or even drop at walking pace for fear of damaging unobtainium parts though. I do need a bike to go to the TT on next year. Might go and see if the local Aprilia dealer has a demo bike. -- +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pete Fisher at Home: | | Voxan Roadster Yamaha WR250Z/Supermoto "Old Gimmer's Hillclimber" | | Gilera GFR * 2 Moto Morini 2C/375 Morini 350 "Forgotten Error" | +-------------------------------------------------------------------+
Ho-ho. I want to come back. A Shiver would avoid the traffic at Cadwell next year better than the GFR though. -- +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pete Fisher at Home: | | Voxan Roadster Yamaha WR250Z/Supermoto "Old Gimmer's Hillclimber" | | Gilera GFR * 2 Moto Morini 2C/375 Morini 350 "Forgotten Error" | +-------------------------------------------------------------------+
