    This is a test ... now on broadband via internode.

    It's 26 years since I first plugged in a PSTN modem![1] V.23 for those
    who remember 1200/75 - I had the fast one - not that it mattered much,
    my mate only had a V.21 300/300 I could connect to!

    I had a 300 baud modem before I had a 1200/75 also.

    Didn't you have a local BBS you could call into?

    I remember we had a 110 baud voice phone portable modem. You dialled the
    number, arranged the connection verbally, then put the handpiece in this
    wooden box. The modem converted the signal to sound and sent it via the
    handpiece microphone. Ahh, those were the days.

    Sometimes it even worked!
