Right. That's actually the 'dip' to which I refer, caused by temperature inversion (i.e. a layer of warm air on top of a layer of cooler air). This causes a much greater than normal level of refraction in the boundary layers and can give rise to a no-horizon effect. nothing to do with clean air, and it can happen elsewhere, but is indeed much more likely in polar zones. -- _______ ..'_/_|_\_'. Apparently the AK47 was the weapon of choice for complete numpties because you could abuse the **** out of it and still use it to shoot at people. It's worth noting that the same people that passed on the above information also said it was very hard to actually hit anyone.
