10/10 for effort, 1/10 for spelling.

Well I know some think they are, well no, they might not (fully /
actually) consider the consequences at all, or if they do just don't
care. I for example would (and do) ride a motorbike in spite of the
risks being greater than going by car. I rarely *need* to go by bike
either so I have accepted the extra risk. Would I go 'fast' or go
racing, probably not, cause I know my limits, luck and can be just as
happy doing (statistically) less dangerous things (sad but true). ;-)
You have probably put a few miles / years under yer belt [1] so are
(obviously) fully aware of the risks and just play the numbers. For me
the 'what if' is just too great to ignore considering how little
effort it takes to do the other thing.

I am fully aware how unlucky I can be so wouldn't even risk it to the
top of the road (see L plates story)! I also hate the fact that no
matter where I cut, bang or otherwise hurt myself I will continue to
hit that and only that spot for the next few weeks. ;-(

[1] Not quite so with the young ped riders that run regularly run the
gauntlet of the head on traffic round these parts in no more that a T
    shirt and shorts.

Here, the classic display of newbie-itis - the spelling flame, which
the senior members know to be nearly the lowest form of contribution
(unless it contains an element of humour,

Is she happy with it in this weather?
Good idea. We are between Ilford, Harrow and Luton. Anyone know the
best of those (stock range wise) please or do they all generally carry
    the same?

Quite. Some people like to dip a toe in first.

Sorry I missed the details (if it was posted here) but do you feel
your 'off' was a typical one?

I can see how if you ere on a bike and say it low sided you may well
instinctively hold onto the bars (so not putting yer hands down as
such). I still don't think I'd like the idea of bare hands anywhere
near the road at any speed.

Sideswiped by a car, went down left side, didn't let go until I had
    to.
Oh, I agree - the gloves lightly scuffed, but I'm glad they were on.
They just weren't the first things to touch down.

    Almost the last, if anything.

hehehehe - now now, not being funny, i don't actually remember the last
thread on anything you started! I mean nothing, you just seem to want to
interject with tuppencehappeniesworth of (sometimes) funny bile.

You seem a decent sort of chap, why not start a few threads about
motorcycling? Or is it, that you have been here so long, you don't have to?

    'senior members' LOL!

So was I. The jacket went through to the armour at the shoulder, my
jeans were ripped, and my trainer went through at the toes (fabric).

Oh, and the helmet was cracked/abraded.

From my experience, the worst choice that day was to wear trainers.

  13. I seldom start threads. Never have.
Isn't that the essence of UKRM?
Starting threads is *not* the point of being here.
Nobody has to. Well, somebody has to, obviously. But, tbh, UKRM
would be a better place without some of the "blog" style thread
starters from te likes of Rope, BGN, and others.
And don't you forget it, laddie.

Isn't this where Des used to post his little gem naming and shaming

Do you still believe that shit about him emigrating to Israel? It's
more likely he's doing 10 years in a French nick before being deported
    back to Scotland.

  20. I hope so, because he may get blown up. Which would stop him posting
    here.
Good point. Either way is fine with me - as long it stops him posting
    here.
