That's at least the second mention for both.
I wonder how well daughters Stihl chainsaw protection trousers will
cope? The outer is quite tough and the <several> layers of nylon or
whatever it is in there would offer some padding. Similar with her
Haix PPE boots (probably not as good as proper motorcycle boots but
    better than trainers). ;-)

As I've said elsewhere a lot of this is just trying to bend the odds
in your favour. For most of us for most journeys you could get away
with wearing a Mankini (and helmet of course <g>), but it's those
(hopefully) rare moments when skin meets road that you need said
protection. What level of protection you can get away with depends on
many factors so I guess that's were most off us decide what's best for
ourselves. I think I would go for 'the best' if I could afford such
and based on my bike usage (currently just now and again).

I think they need to stop writing the lines that Humph would say. Plus
I felt the panel were a little to worried about if people were going to
think they were funny IYSWIM. When they relaxed a bit, there were some
    flashes of the old brilliance.

    Jack Dee tonight innit?

I meant in his physical appearance.

Surely he doesn't need to do "wizened old man" quite so convincingly
    to keep the gig.

He does seem to have aged about 3 years for every stone he's lost.

I used a wicking layer whilst in the Alps last summer, for the first time.
Very effective, as I didn't get the usual sweat rash.

It's laughable that I was considered to be on the "inner circle".

What's weird is that Hog is listed at all, in 2003. From the way that
newbie posts, I had thought he'd only been here a year or two.

They should offer pretty nice abrasion resistance. What they won't
offer is wind protection for the knees. My first trousers were leather,
and since I'm an all-year rider (well, unless there's snow on the road)
I quickly decided I need additional knee warmers. After switching to
textiles I don't need them anymore - even when the wind- and
    water-resistant
membrane is taken out, the knee protectors offer some measure of protection
    against the wind.

Which is nice, because my knees are already buggered from martial arts
training, and getting them wind-chilled doesn't help any.
Definitively better than trainers. My Bundeswehr army boots have so far
resisted my clumsy attempts to hurt my ankles. ;-) And they're quite
    comfortable for walking around, too.

Just make sure those base layers don't contain anything like polyester
or nylon because you might find that in a crash your outer layer stays
intact but the base layer melts and sticks to your skin.

Apparently it hurts a lot but I'd never wear Berghaus thermals under
my race leathers and then crash.

Luckily I don't think that will be a problem on her current short
commute. Her MZ used to sport a fine pair of steel leg shields (and a
handlebar screen) but they are all gone now. She also has some of
those DPM camo over trousers if it does get wet / cold.
Her 'proper' motorcycle trousers have thermal inner's and knee
protection but I'm not sure if they would go over her PPE trousers.
They might without the inner's and something I'll get her to test
    sometime.
I never did any MA (or anything else that I can think of that would
put particular strain on my knees ... other than cycling and sailing
possibly) but my knees also ache in the cold / winter. Daughter got to
green belt at Taekwondo (before the club folded) and has used a
turning kick to get on and off her bike when all her climbing kit is
lashed to the pillion seat. ;-)
Her Haix's are really too stiff for good gear feel and brake control
but it's a MZ so I'm not sure it matters too much on either count.
Mind you, she continues to decline the use of the Yamaha Majesty so it
can't be that bad (or I wonder if there could be another reason). ;-)

I wasn't given much choice in the matter last time and being strapped to
a spinal board I didn't have much scope for going anywhere else.

Either I have become more discerning over the years, or something, but
with around 1200 to choose from there are *very* few one would. Down in
