I clocked your tag for "openoffice" Bruce and for once, something did what
    it said on th' tin.

    Cheers

    Glad to be of service.

It does a reasonable effort of saving stuff in MS word to pass to others.
And I like the fact it has a built in PDF generator as well.

I've been using it for around 10 years now (possibly due to the fact I
used to work for Sun :) )

Unfortunately not - fooking annoying. I use ActiveSync (with AstraSync on
the BBerry) against the Scalix server in the office, and Lightning with
Thunderbird, but there's not really an easy (and good) IMAP contacts sync.

I've no idea, but openoffice is the bollocks.

    And how you were.
I don't do a lot of stuff that needs MS Word, but some of my older doc's
wouldn't open with anything that came with Windows 7 and 120 quid for
something I'd already bought and paid for was a piss take.
I can see me doing the same now too. [1]

I think it's a bit "Operating Sytemy" for me:)

Notice how I removed the sig this time? :)

Could be worse, he could be pointing you at AmigaOS 4 .

Paging Darcy to the geekophone, would you pay hard cash for the AmigaOne
    X1000 [1] ?

There is a link to an interview of Trevor Dickinson in that article[1]
and one of the questions asked is "Nobody in the real world would create
a company for such a tiny market. It's very risky financially."

    Says it all really.

well, as a long time Amiga advocate (albeit >15 years ago) I'd still
have to say - **** this nonsense.

Also, I see it's using a descendant of transputer tech - I studied
Occam at Uni. I still say - **** this nonsense - give it up, FFS.

Heh, my first thought when I read the article was just because you can
    doesn't mean you should.

Still, as very expensive hobbies go it probably rates the same as having
an exotic sports car in the garage. Although I think Mr Dickinson is
being extremely optimistic if he thinks he can sucker someone else into
    helping pay for it.

I'd be more interested if the spec blew away everything from Intel or
AMD in terms of straight processing power but to be quite honest it
doesn't look like it on paper.

My approach would have been to rewrite AmigaOS to run on the latest
    Intel processors.
