    Update on my Mothers situation.

Hearing her screaming in agony last night as the consultant shoved some
balloon thing up her hooter to stop the bleeding was not a pleasant
experience (although probably not as unpleasant as it was for her by the
    sound of it)

Waited for ages, well it was Xmas night, for platelets to be delivered from
    Liverpool to north Wales

By the early hours of the morning she was stabilised and drugged up enough
to be "off with the fairys"

What I had'nt mentioned in my previous post was last week when I was in
Helsinki, she'd fallen enroute to the loo and fell face first onto the
    toilet.

I've never seen such bruising on any person ever before. She go checked out
and no fractures etc, luckily, but the bruising was incredible, her jaw was
literally three times the size, her eyes all but closed up she looked a
    sorry sight.

Bugger .... The New Year is'nt going to be easy I guess.

Glad she is ok, I too have been witness to the above and it wasn't at
all pleasant, just hope they never do the cotton padding, that is a big
hard piece of wadded cotton that is inserted then swollen with saline,
my mother almost hit the roof.

Dear me mate, sounds horrific, hopefully things might take a slightly
better turn & she might get more comfortable.

Going in is bad enough. Being removed... **** me, it felt like my brain and
eyes were being pulled out through my nose... I wouldn't wish that on, well,
    most people...

  5. She needs one of those padded fluffy loo-seats.

Hope it sorts out - I've been having to do the "injured parent" thing
    recently, too. Not fun.

  6. It made my eyes water in sympathy. I had nose packing removed after one of
my operations. It must be thirty years ago, and I *still* remember it.

Those nose bleeds are nasty - even when the cause isn't something as
horrible as a cancer side effect. Dave spent two days in hospital for the
first time in his life last year - severe nose bleeds caused by a prescribed
nasal inhaler, Beconase. He ended up calling an emergency ambulance because
the damn nose would simply not stop gouting gore. Paramedics were superb,
took it very seriously indeed. My kitchen looked like a bad knife flick. I
never believed all those CSI type forensic things, quite. Till I was finding
minute specks of old blood months later.
