That's my bike off the road then

I've just been in the garage leaning against Elly's bike having a quiet
smoke and pondering a good ride-out, whilst casting a casual eye over my
Gixer. My thoughts turned to the brakes and the recent problems I've
been having with excessive play in the fully floating AP discs and how
    much a new set is.

Without thinking I cast my eyes over the discs and noticed that one of
the bobbins holding the left disc rotor onto the carrier is missing, it
was there this morning when I checked the bike over but it ain't there
now. God only knows when it went AWOL cos I didn't hear or see a thing.

Those bobbins run behind a section of the caliper and it could quite
easily have locked the wheel if it had jammed between disc and caliper.
I'd say that given the silly speeds I was travelling at today, I'm
fucking lucky it didn't. It's a bit late in the night to drag the bike
out and see if it did cause any damage, but the bike is in dire need of
a good clean so that's a job for tomorrow. I did notice that the carrier
is so badly worn where the bobbin fits that it is beyond repair.

I was going to have to take the bike off the road soon anyway because it
could do with two new tyres fitting, but this has made that a definite.

Hog: I'd really appreciate a swift delivery of those spares you've got
please mate, if you'd be so kind.

If you need a lift we can go round there and beat 'em out of him.

    Bad, bad motorbike.
I don't think he needs a lift. Pip has a nice little TS150 which would
    do Lozzo for a while.

Doubly bad. To cheer myself up I just went and asked a burd out for a
    drink, she said yes.
I'd forgotten all about that bike. I wonder how long it would take to
    get to Avebury on it?

It would depend on the wind direction.

We say "Hands" in England, but you go right ahead and keep using the
    fingers if it suits you.

D'uh, I knew it was hands, but thought that 'fingers' suited the
    keyboard/interface type thing better .

    Sheesh...

I've got a good idea it went on the run after we'd turned right where
that Merc let us out. I know this as I'm pretty sure it clobbered me
in the chest. I thought it was a stone but as the road was neither
gravelly nor did I get any other problems all day and I remember
thiking it was a fucking big stone I bet that was it.

It'll take a sight longer than that. Avebury is about 120 miles from
    here.

After all the jibes about bits falling off brit bikes it's very tempting
to take the piss. However I lost a 6v horn off the Matchless a few weeks
ago. Bracket fatigue, should have known better than to use a piece of cold
bent stainless. Now I know why the originals were laminated springsteel.

You want to be thankful that fucker didn't catch you in the chest!

I'm not sure, Rog, but ISTR the brakes on Loz's Suzuki being British
    items.
