Do I detect a requirement for a "Woooosssshhhhh!" here.
The truck riding motorcycle was none other but my own foible-laden Bimmer.

he would have only got 1200m before it broke down and he'd have to walk
    the rest of the way.

And heading out from Cold Flame, Stu (GS1000) and Hammo (Hornet)
did just fine, and I fell off the XLV!

These dirt bikes are SHIT! (also, you have to wait a long time
for the others to catch up ...)

  4. Was that after we got to the sealed bit on Barry Way or the bit before? I
remember thinking I was hungover and needed to have a better reason for
sweatier palms, then Sharks comes flying past sliding all over the road.
Just stopping before a cliff edge.

Later he kindly showed Stu and I how good kevlar is! You are the bestest
    friend anyone could have!

...oh and I met Frank there! Hi Frank, oh, and Big Greg.....

True, worst bit is copping shit from as your mates accelerate away
from you and disappear over the horizon in the first kilometer of
asphalt, leaving your sad and sorry arse trailing along behind ...
hee hee. Ooops. God I was in bad shape that morning. Remind
me to drink whiskey at rallies from now on.

Hi All - thanks so much for all of your expert advice. I made a decision,
which might surprise some of you, but I think I made a smart one, based on
my past riding history and my immediate goals.

Tried out the CBR954 today as well as the CBR1100XX and ruled them both out
as being more than I'm ready for. Also tried out an SV1000S and a Firestorm
but decided that I'm not in a big-twin phase at the moment, I want something
smoother. Rode a Gixxer 750 and eliminated it for same reason as CBR - too
sporty too soon for a lame-arsed chook bike rider.

Never got around to trying the VFR800, but rode and immediately loved the
FZ1, so much so that I've bought it and it's already in my garage. Got a
fairly good deal from Procycles in Hornsby, $15000 OTR. Maybe I'll progress
to a gixxer thou in a year or two, but this is a perfect bike for me now I
    think.

Off to start running it in...

    Cheers Manning

PS - Beemer chook bike is now definitely for sale.

Which reminds me, hope the preparation for the next Tri-state Netride is
coming along a little better. The mekaniks will be few and far between
    on the Nullabor!

That's a pretty good price. I've looked at them in the past but never
seriously considered one, partly because they don't have the fairing
protection but mostly because they were overpriced, like the VFR.

Well done, good choice I think I would have pointed you that way if I
read this thread yesterday. But then I am in the looks like a chook bike
goes like a sports bike areana so might be bias.
Have fun running in see you on TNR or before depends how the weekend
goes. Or come to BA's tonight so we can go OOOH AAAhh

    Cheers Mark with the TDM.

    Not a problem.

Glued the fairing back together yesterday.
(one of the mounts had come loose)

Awaiting arrival of new carby kit and needles & Jets and vacuum gauges for
    balancing said carbies.

    New tyres next week.

Cut a pair of NACA "nostrils" in the screen on Tuesday. Cuts wind noise and
turbulence, and allows a little more air in the face.

Only got 3 weeks of marking to do by the 19th.

    She'll be right.

Ahh, nice spot, run by cahns though (or was). Anyhoo, it's probably pretty
cheap nowdays (I'de hope so). I used to live there when I was a kid. Good
fun all the same, top river swimming, plenty of good water holes, and
you're right at the best bit of the Oxley!

Good choice - I would have suggested but I thought you were looking for
sportier end. No problems with getting to 2 mins at the creek and cruise all
    day on it.

Excellent. Vulcan gets a full service 17/11 and the trailer is getting a
    once over as well.
I have a total of four exam papers to mark! It's a long story, someone
else got their wires crossed and employed a sessional!! A mistake which
    went my way for once!!
Don and Ian have both had to pull out, so it's just you and me once
    again!

    Cheers

Thanks for that - I was looking for sportier, but 'sportier' is a relative
term, and when you're coming from a BMW 1100GS the FZ1 is extremely sporty.

If I can make two minutes at EC I'll be very pleased with myself. Going to
go and do the Stay Upright cornering/braking course in December, and then do
    SB School next year.

  20. Cheaper than Gingers Creek---enjoyed the last trip there in March.
Thought we'd get a quiet weekend up there, but the Long Flat pub run and
Yamaha rally are on that weekend,so I'm guessing a few blue lights may be
    about...
