Help stop deisel spills on our roads. Visit www.KillSpills.org.uk The Road Users Campaign to Kill diesel Spills (killspills) Our campaign, "The Road Users Campaign to Kill diesel Spills - KillSpills", was launched on 22nd October by a joint team from the www.CBR600.org.uk and www.MCNNinjas.co.uk websites. Who does it affect? Everyone. The general public are not aware of the dangers of diesel on the road. In fact, all drivers are at risk from diesel spills. Diesel spills represent a major threat to the safety of all road users. Many lorry, bus, van & agricultural machine drivers are unaware of the dangers posed. Vehicles can skid, swerve and lose control on wet slippery diesel, endangering their drivers, passengers, other road users, pedestrians and property. What will it achieve? It is easy to say that our campaign will not get very far. We are, in terms of lobbying the Government, amateurs and may well be going about this in completely the wrong way. But our belief that this is a danger that needs to be taken seriously is unquestionable. Diesel spills affect all road users, not just motorcyclists although we are the most vulnerable group. What can we do? Educate! It's amazing the number of people who do not appreciate the dangers created by diesel spills. However when you discuss the topic, nearly every driver has a story relating to spill hazards. Cars, Vans, Trucks, Bicycles and Motorcycles are all affected to some degree. Remember that junction where you didn't come to a halt where you expected to - but instead floated on another 300yrds? Imagine if another vehicle had been in front. The person who was driving the car that Lee hit will be scarred for life, although the driver was not responsible for the accident, he now undoubtedly understands the dangers of diesel on the road. What's in it for you? For you? Safer roads. For us? The same. This campaign has been kick-started by riders who care enough to take action. How often do we say to ourselves "someone should do something about that" only to dismiss the notion of taking it any further. Well this time "someone" is us. Please help us in whatever way you can and maybe, this time we can make a difference. Visit www.KillSpills.org.uk
